This Makita RT0700CX2 trimmer router has fast become my go-to for fiddly jobs in the garage. Tiny thing but packs a 710W punch with variable speeds up to 30,000 RPM – ideal for edging worktops, chamfering shelf edges or even cutting perfect circles with the right guide. What stands out is how smooth it runs: soft start means no kick, constant speed under load, and the fixed base adjusts depth dead easy with a clear scale. Comes loaded with 6mm/8mm collets, edge guide, template guide and dust extraction – basically ready to go without buying extras. Feels solid too, Makita quality through and through. Used it straight away on some oak trim for a shelving project and it chewed through without fuss, barely any tear-out on clean passes. Not a full-size router replacement but perfect for precision stuff where bigger tools feel clumsy. Bargain for what it does, especially if you’re into DIY woodworking or custom bits.

Best tool I have. Love this router. Easy to handle, light. I guess the only improvement would be the placement of the on/off switch. I think they're all like this but I don't find it intuitive. Apart from that, it's great. It comes with a guide which is good enough to maintain an even line as it doesn't wobble. I don't use the measurements on the depth guide - that doesn't seem every accurate. It's a small router so the base isn't big meaning you have to be careful when routing near the edge and you might need to ensure there's enough support.

Bought to put into a router table. As you would expect from a reputable manufacturer, this little trim router is reliable, has enough power to cope with deepish cuts, and is surprisingly quiet.

This is a great router. I’ve purposely bought it for my cnc so I can’t comment on how good it is as a 1/4 traditional router. But for the cnc it’s a game changer as I upgraded the original motor that came with the cnc to this router. It seams to be way powerful enough for what I want it for.

Not the most powerful but definitely good enough for small jobs . Worked perfectly to route grooves into a wooden door

I'd previously purchased a much cheaper copy of this trim router. The genuine Makita item is far superior. It feels great in the hand and I have confidence that its been well made, and will last. Controls are easy to use, and accessories are both functional and intuitive. Great little router!

Easy to use. Light weight. Solid. When you plug it in it wont accidentally start even though it only has one on/off button. Dust extractor fits well. Excellent purchase.

Found This Makita Router on Amazon for a Good sale price. Only downside came with a UK power plug live in Australia.... quality universal adaptor maybe required.

Good quality, powerful, compact, easy to install and remove bits, easy to attach accessories, fits perfectly in table inserts, cable is long and thick and durable.
