We live in SE Alaska - OffGrid- & on a remote island. All of our groceries and supplies are brought in by float plane. Sometimes planes are delayed up to 45 days due to weather. We love sour cream. 😍 So decided why not try this, as it's shelf stable, until you make a batch. It mixes right into sour cream. Literally add water and that's it. The texture is awesome. We used to have a dairy farm in VA, we know milk & creams. 😅 And this tastes almost like the sour cream I used to make back on our dairy for our customers. We've been making small batches so as not to have an abundance go bad.. I cannot speak to the shelf life of it once it's made, as we've been eating it within 7 days.

Great product, good for years.

I have mixed this up 2 times. The first time I ate it right away on a baked potato, it was very thin so I added more powder. It was a bit chalky in texture. Then I realized I hadn't read all the directions. It says to refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours. Whoops. Second time I mixed it like the first time with the extra powder. Refrigerated it overnight in a Rubbermaid with a tight lid. Again used it on a baked potato, but this time it was thick like cream cheese. Tasted great and no chalk texture. Next time I will use the proper ratio 2 powder to 1 water and refrigerate it. It thickens a lot while sitting. It pays to follow directions. I live in an rv and have a dorm size refrigerator, not much room for a regular tub of sour cream. Also I tend to use about half of the regular tub before it starts spoiling. So even though this costs more per ounce, I can mix it in small amounts I can use before it spoils, thereby, actually saving money. If you throw half away your price per used once is actually 2 times the cost than if you used it all. Example $4 for 8 oz tub using only half is really $4 for 4 ounces.

I should have taken other reviews more seriously. This was truly awful. I made a small batch and thought it tasted off, maybe a little vinegar aftertaste? , I thought maybe if I just let it set up overnight it would improve but no, the next day it was just super thick and still had a terrible taste. I wouldn't even try it in recipes I'd be afraid it would ruin the taste of other foods, too bad, it seemed like a good solution to just make what you need. I guess I'll just keep buying fresh and tossing unused portions

Doesn’t taste good. Product looks very good . After achieving right consistency didn’t taste great as sour cream. More powdery than creamy texture

It tastes great and doesn't expire no where near as quick.

I found it's texture to be good but taste was a bit off - like thick powdered milk. Sorry, but I just didn't get that sour cream taste.
