So easy to apply at home
Madison Reed is the best hair color. I really like it because it has beautiful colors to pick from, and I especially like the grey coverage colors. They cover well with beautiful shine. They give you everything you need in one box, everything! Their gloves are the best Iโve ever used, the skin cream for hairline protection, and it works, skin wipes are wonderful too, and a cap. Then you get shampoo and conditioner to keep your color locked in. Nothing else needed. I use a styling mousse afterwards and my hair has never been shinier! Yes you should try Madison Reed permanent hair color. Itโs just the best!

Beautiful
I dyed my hair for my wedding. The red was gorgeous! The dye did wash out rather quick but Iโm sure thatโs because of the deepness of the red and how much I wash my hair. Iโm so pleased with this dark red color and the photos turned out perfect! Keep in mind when looking at the photo that I usually use a much lighter red from Madison Reed and my hair is naturally blonde, so Iโm certain that has affected the color. This is a high quality product that comes with a shower cap, good gloves, skin protectant, shampoo and conditioner. All are of good quality!

Might be great for short hair or hair not previously colored. For me? Awful.
I used Light Golden Red, &7NCG, Genova Red. On the package, the color looked like an exact match for my original hair color. (I have just enough grey, here & there throughout my hair, to want to cover it... for now, anyway. Vanity... right? lol ) I fell in love with Madison Reed's packaging and the thoughtfulness shown in this very complete hair color kit. The messaging in it dazzled me, as well. Using the product, I didn't care for the smell of it, but it wasn't nearly as bad as some ammonia-based hair color products. So far, so good. In addition, I was impressed by how much hair color was included. Even with long, thick hair, I was able to cover everything from the roots to the very longest tips of my hair, and do so completely. The included shampoo and conditioner were both lavish and generous. Again, as someone with very thick hair, this was appreciated. But then, fresh from the shower, I looked in the mirror. Umm... It looked like the color coverage wasn't consistent. Not even close. Worse, when my hair was dry, the color at the top of my head was spectacular, but starting at about ear level, the color was much darker. Indoors, it looks almost black. On someone as fair-skinned as me, the effect was jarring. Suddenly, every freckle and laugh line seemed more obvious. This was NOT flattering. Oddly, the ends of my hair barely took any color at all. That was fine, because naturally colored hair is usually lighter (sun bleached) at the ends. In the accompanying photo, my head is tilted, so I'm looking up. You're seeing the top of my head as well as my back. Also, that picture was taken on a slightly overcast day, so the variations in color aren't due to extreme lighting. It looks far worse indoors, but I think the photo conveys the essense of the problem. Note: It's been a few years since I was a hair model, but I picked up a lot of hair coloring tips from the pros. So, I'm still mindful of the importance of coloring my hair thoroughly and consistently, and following package directions - to the letter - for the best results. In other words, it's not as if I smothered the top of my head with hair dye, and just loosely spread the rest of my hair with far lighter coverage. Likewise, I didn't douse the middle (now darkest) band of my hair with extra color, or omit coloring the ends, either. To me, it looks like this hair color should not be used on long, previously colored hair. I'd ask for a refund if I had anything to return to the seller, but - of course - I used the complete package. So, at best, that was a waste of $30. I'm going to wait a week so my hair has time to recover, and then I'll be using an "oops!" products to remove the Madison Reed hair color. Fingers crossed, it'll restore how my hair looked before using Madison Reed's hair color. (If that doesn't work, Plan B is to streak my hair with blonde. At worst, it'll look "artsy.") I'll agree that the Madison Reed hair color at the top of my head looks exactly as I'd hoped. It's very close to the color shown on the product's packaging. The probem is: The rest of my hair looks awful. If your hair is short - and, preferably, has never been colored before - you may love Madison Reed. For me, this was an extremely distressing experience. Fortunately, I work at home. This week, only my family will see my hair. If I go out, I'll wear a hat. Then, my hair will look oddly dark with almost blonde sun-bleaching at the ends. Short-term, I'm okay with that. I was tempted to give this product two stars because the packaging was a delight to read, and the included gloves, cap, shampoo, and conditioner were wonderful extras. However, I'm so disappointed by the product itself, I have to give this one star, and share my experience with others, so they don't make a similar mistake.

Not a true black color and caused a rash.
I spent so much time looking for a true black that wouldn't cause an allergic reaction. After doing some research, this brand was recommended. The color does saturate well so long as you follow the instructions, but it isn't as deep of a black as I had expected and can still see some red undertones throughout my hair. In addition, although it wasn't as bad as with other brands, this brand still caused an allergic reaction. So, if you develop a rash from hair dyes, please do your research more deeply and do small isolated skin tests before using a dye.

The best hair color!!!
I have been using Madison Reed hair color for years, and it continues to be my absolute favorite at-home coloring product. The color always looks rich, natural, and salon-quality, which is something I have struggled to find with other brands. One of the biggest reasons I keep coming back to it is how well it covers gray hair without leaving my hair feeling damaged or overly dry afterward. Instead, my hair always feels soft, healthy, and conditioned after coloring. My go-to shade is Soft Black because it gives my hair a deep, beautiful color without looking harsh or unnatural. Recently, my usual shade was out of stock, so I decided to try the Cool Black-Brown instead, and I was honestly impressed with how amazing it turned out. The color blended beautifully and still gave me the polished look I expect from Madison Reed products. Overall, I am extremely happy with this purchase and highly recommend it to anyone looking for professional-looking hair color at home. Amazon occasionally offers great sales on these products, but even at full price, I truly think it is worth every penny because of the quality and results.

Beautiful Coverage
This product has amazing coverage and beautiful color! The color last a very long time, especially using the conditioner that you can purchase alongside it that has some color depositing effect with it. I love this brand. It is a little expensive, but it sure does beat using the cheap stuff from the store because you donโt have to dye it every single week! Love this so much, and I am constantly getting compliments on the color and the shine! Iโm sticking to this brand and am subscribing so that I save a little bit of money. Itโd be nice if they gave out coupons once in a while or offer discounts.
