THE GOOD STUFF!
Great paint, It was a little bit thinner than expected, but that made it made it easy to apply and covered very well in just one coat. It's a good price for a name brand quality paint. The finish looks very nice and since I did clean and etch the steps as well as prime it as the paint recommends, I do think it's adhesion will last. I've NEVER did tuck pointing or brick work before, so if it's a little wonky, it's because it was my first time. I think the time and effort was well worth it considering it would have cost around $2,500,00+ for new steps.

Very happy with looks and coverage
It's still very early in the process but I can speak to how well it looks initially and how well it went down. I bought the silver grey to go on my boat dock. Originally I had product I had applied about three years years ago that didn't hold up very well. I put this down after pressure washing off most of the old paint (5/4" x 6" PT deck boards). I first applied Rust Oleum Deck Start primer, and then this. It covered extremely well. I did the first coat with a paint pad and then a second coat with a 1/2 roller. I bought three gallons to do 2 12'x24' areas, and a 3'x30' walkway. I feared I hadn't bought enough, and couldn't get another gallon of this in time, so bought Behr deck paint for one of the sides instead. I understand the brands are owned by the same company. The Kilz went down better and covered more evenly. One gallon easily did two coats of the 12x24 section. All this to say, I happy with the choice and the lighter grey was easier on bare feet in the sun. I thought it did better than the Behr, but they look indistinguishable right now. Hopefully I get some solid years of use.

Phenomenal paint!
Pros: this is a typical, modern, high-tech paint which ticks off all the check boxes: - Does not drip or run from the brush during application - Lays on silky smooth - Easy to go back over spots to cover up brush strokes while wet, and the new paint blends in well without streaking - Hides dark paint exceptionally well - Is self leveling and shrinks slightly when dry, which helps to hide brush strokes - Dries to the touch quickly, well within an hour - Lays on a nice, satin sheen which is not slippery when wet, so a good choice for outside stairs - Brushes clean up like new with soap and water Con: - The silver gray is more like off white! When I opened the can I thought the paint wasn't mixed well but mixing did not change the color. If you have white railings you are best off with the darker grey color to provide some contrast. Only reason I kept the silver gray was rain was due in two days and I had to paint an outside repair with bare lumber, but at least the color is cool when the sun beats down. I used this Kilz paint to cover dark, rust red stairs and it hid the color with one coat! I did put on one rather heavy coat. When you first apply the paint it seems to cover extraordinarily well, then it gets a bit transparent as it dries, but when fully dried the old paint was effectively hidden with a solid, matte finish. To cover nail head holes and cracks just apply a bit more paint to the edge of the brush, then go back and dab those areas while the paint is setting. The paint does shrink when dry so you may have to dab up those areas again, but it's good that the paint shrinks in place to seal well and does not lay on too thick. This is my first experience with Kilz paint. Problem with buying paint at Home Depot or Lowes is the bewildering variety but you have to dig through the web to find reviews. By buying on Amazon it's easy to find paint with a high number of good reviews, and the free freight doesn't hurt either.

good stuff
the thing i didnt like was it was a bit runny. otherwise this was VERY good for its purpose. i was trying to increase the life expectancy of my deck that was painted. i feel very confident that this and the over armor will do that perfectly. you could do it in one coat but best results is two. it dries fast and is ready for weather. i really liked this stuff.

Holding up so far
We have a very large older deck that needed a facelift. We have used various stains and paints and every time it looks good until it rains, snows or the sun beats on it, then it is peeling, chipping, sticking to your bare feet, pretty much a mess. We used the Kilz paint in July 2024 - this picture is from Oct. 1, 2024- and so far we are very impressed. It hasn't peeled away or chipped and it isn't wearing out where we walk daily. I know it's only a few months, but so far it has been better than all the others. We prepped our deck by power washing it and letting it really dry out, then we put on one really heavy solid coat. We used 8 gallons to cover our deck. It covered really nicely. The paint was thick and went on easily. It dried super fast in the July sun. I'll try to remember to update this after some slush or snow this winter. I am hopeful I will only need to do minor touch ups. That would be amazing if it holds up through 4 seasons and only needs basic maintenance. **Update: I added a picture from June 2, 2025. As you can see this paint weathered far better than any weโve used before. We have had zero peeling. It really held up great over the winter. Highly recommend.

Great coverage at a good price
Great coverage and easy application. Shipped in plastic sleeves that prevented damage to paint cans. Good value in patio deck paint.

They did great job in packaging the cans.
It was easy to work with, has a reputation of being a good paint price was OK, shipping was great, cans had extra holders in boxes to keep them from being damaged.
