Mesh is unreliable
I ordered a NetGear RBKE963 with international delivery to UAE and it was unusable due to 110VAC power adapter, ordered the ASUS ET12 as an alternative. Double glazed windows with tinting attenuate WiFi signal strength, and these devices not only deliver poor Wi-Fi performance out doors, the latest firmware update disconnects my printer, IPTV and TV from the Wi-Fi. Just ordered at UAE Netgear RBKE963 to replace

Excelentes, me encantaron!

They have blown me away with how well they work... 50 meters outside the house and still getting a signal... The best Mesh system, I have ever owed.... It just works....

I purchased the Asus ET12 to replace an ageing Netgear RBK50 system, and am very impressed so far with the performance. The first thing to note is expense. This is an expensive product and may be overkill for many. Things I particularly liked were: Powerful signal coverage offered - Suitable for large homes with many floors/rooms and/or large gardens. Since the two devices are routers in their own right I attain fast wifi over three floors as well as good speeds 80ft away at the end of the garden. Although wifi 6E is a dedicated wider bandwidth with faster possible speeds you should bear in mind that 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz signals will travel further. Powerful feature set - Very configurable and unlike Netgear which charges for most options, Asus provides them for free(e.g. VPN, DDNS, content filtering etc). You can also use some other routers in their range if you have them to be part of the AImesh system. Future proofing - Wifi 6E (Its enabled but not many device can take advantage of this yet. Wifi 7 is coming shortly too so if thats important to you, wait for a future version or perhaps use a cheaper router variant like the Asus ET8). Premium products - These units are very well built and engineered, even the packaging is impressive and this feels like a premium product. Downsides Initial Configuration - Before I could connect the routers together in what Asus call AiMesh (the manual instructs you to do this via a wifi backhaul connection first). I could not get this to work without firstly upgrading the Firmware on both Routers. This meant using each router in turn as a Master device connected to the Internet and then they synced up successfully. Once you have done so you should connect each router together via a hardwired Ethernet connection cable of suitable speed. I also saw this issue with Asus XT12 units which I tried first but returned. Wifi backhaul (connecting the two routers together via wifi) was unreliable in my home due to distance/walls etc. USB removal - Other Asus routers allow you to connect USB drives and use them as mini NAS drives. If this is important to you look at the older XT/ET8 routers. Cost - They are expensive units although I saved some money during an Amazon sale - they are however much cheaper and more configurable than comparable Netgear products. If you like gadgets these are great, but wifi is a necessity for most and it still pains me to pay so much for something that is pretty mundane. I guess you get what you pay for here and this will most likely appeal to Networking geeks more than others. N.B. This system is intended to be wired together via Ethernet cable, freeing all bands up for Wifi usage. To one of the reviewers complaining about this but using a wifi 6 signal backhaul to link them, you would be best placed using the Asus XT12 which is faster in that scenario (wifi 6E is not offered by that system however). For reference and a detailed writeup of capabilities I'd suggest using google to read reviews of these systems by Dong Knows Tech.

Non è certo un prodotto economico, però mantiene le promesse : facilità nell'installazione, stabilità rete wifi, copertura ottima. Vivamente consigliabile per chi vuole potenziare la sua rete wifi di casa.

I bought this to replace 2 WIFI 5 Mesh AP's. Asus claim only 1 ET12 would cover my house. It didn't, so I had to buy a second. They arrive with almost zero documentation, and the website doesn't offer much more support. I found a Youtuber (Eclipse Reviews) who filled in all the blanks. Big thank you to him! You can use the app or a web gui to configure the ET12's. One word of warning, using the app to create passwords will recommend the usual, long pass phrase, mixed with letters, numbers and characters. Not many characters are supported, so though you can enter them, if you try to progress, nothing happens. That's when I turned to the web gui. This tells you when you are typing if the character is not supported. Aside from that, I find the app better than the web gui. I wanted a new mesh system, as the old one topped out at 200Mbps download speeds and I now have 1Gbps fibre. It's been operational for 4 days now. The ET12 is one of those products that shows how bad the previous system was, even if you didn't realise the issues. It is 100% solid. There are so many options to tweak the WIFI. I would sometimes get packet loss on MS Teams calls. The kids would complain of lag spikes when gaming. Their WIFI connection would sometimes drop. All of these issues have gone with Asus. My Router has a 2.5G port, so I connected the first ET12 via that using Ethernet. The second ET12 is a Mesh node. For that I use the 6Ghz band for backhaul. That operates at a stable 1.3Gbps. Static devices (gaming pc's) connect, and stay on the same AP. They'd hop on the old system. The app shows me how all connected devices are performing and their signal strength, so positioning the ET12's needed a bit of work, but no guessing as I could see the results immediately, and move to improve performance. Just a few centimetres could make a huge difference. Note, I did setup them up as the default, with the ET12 acting as Router, and turned on the AI security. It ran perfectly. My use case is using these in AP mode as I wanted to keep my router. I'm sure there are cheaper alternatives, but the performance has justified the expense. I'm essentially getting wired performance in every room, but via WIFI. Fantastic performance, really happy with it.
