Good water retention, brush remains soft after several use, good size for holding, durable, cleaning is easy, functions as expected, no problem with detail work.

This set of brushes is very nice! They hold a lot of water and are a joy to paint with! After rinsing and cleaning them, dry flat on a towel before storing them. Drying brushes upright allows water to collect at the base of the bristles in the ferrule, the metal part that connects the bristles to the brush handle. After a time this can cause rust of the ferrule, and can loosen or rot the bristles. These brushes will last for years and years if properly cared for. They’re worth the price! I love them!

I really enjoy these brushes! I am an artist who has been using oils, and I decided to get reacquainted with my watercolor medium recently. It has been years since I have painted with watercolor and I realized that I need better brushes to learn properly. After much research, I decided to go with the Princeton Neptune brush set. Well priced, and they are wonderful to work with, these brushes are as described, THIRSTY! The belly of the brush holds a great deal of water, and the round brush tips are nicely defined for fine lines. I find that I don't have to reload my brush as often while painting, and if you have a strongly pigmented brand of watercolor paints, when loaded these brushes will carry your color for an extraordinary distance while your paper. They behave just like my natural squirrel fur brush, which cost more than the whole package of Princeton Neptune brushes together. Great value, great performance, I highly recommend to novice and expert alike.

These are designed for watercolor painting. These are high quality brushes that should last a long time. This set includes a 4 & 12 inch round, 1/2 oval wash and a 3/4 inch Aquarelle brush. They hold a lot of water (a desired trait for watercolor painting) and come to a nice sharp point. I wish all the handles in this set had the pretty aqua green color of the 3/4 inch Aquarelle.

These brushes are on the pricey side, but you definitely get what you pay for. These are excellent watercolor brushes and hold the most water I’ve seen in a watercolor brush. The bristles hold onto water and pigment for continuous even brushstrokes, and do not release the water flow too quickly. The sharp tips are lovely and even one round brush can make so many different strokes and detail work! The oval brush is great for flower petals and special shapes. Gorgeous brushes. They can nicely packaged with no damage and the hairs stay in place with multiple rinsing. Would recommend for pros and beginners.

Larger than what I actually wanted (I knew this), I am happy with these. They clean up easily, no shedding, paint nicely. EDIT: As I've learned more about water color, I find that the size of these is actually beneficial and have since bought a much larger round brush. I had given these 4 stars originally because I thought they were too big; they are not. I'm keeping it 4 stars because over time, they get a little harder to reshape, and I take very good care of my brushes.

I had already tried the size 10 and 8 and loved them so I knew I wanted the 12 or bigger and I saw this set for a really great deal which came with that beautiful flat brush with a sea glass handle! And it has a little scraper on the bottom of it for making veins in flowers and leaves. And the cats tongue brush is soft but has just the right amount of stiffness. I have all the brushes I could need for now. I still ordered myself a size 14 black silver to go with this one because you want an extra soft brush sometimes. The only thing I need now is the Neptune dagger brush and I'm good!

It's always been in the back of my mind that I wanted these brushes but thought I'd save the money and buy some less expensive brushes to do my watercolor. Well... I ended up spending far more than I would have if I had just bit the bullet. These are fabulous! They hold loads of water despite being fully synthetic and they come to a sharp point. With care, I hope to have these for many years. I will say that if you like to paint on the drier side with more control, these may not be the best for that. But for loose, wet work they are gold.

Beautiful watercolour brushes. They hold a lot of water/paint and glide over the paper. Very flexible. Very luxurious to use.

Love the brushes. The aquarelle brush retains a lot of water for washes and easy to paint landscapes. The round brushes are great for detailing. These are great watercolour brushes with reasonable pricing.

I’m very much an amateur and I really felt the “step-up” these gave me compared to the basic set I had previously. A good choice for an amateur who wants something decent that won’t break the bank.

The Princeton Neptune brushes first caught my eye because of how beautiful they are. The sea glass-inspired handle is so unique and even prettier in person. As soon as I held them, I could tell they were high quality. They feel comfortable and well-balanced in my hand, which makes painting with them really enjoyable. The bristles are incredibly soft, hold a lot of water and create such smooth, effortless washes. They perform just as beautifully as they look.
