CRAFTSMAN CMMT14108 Spiral Screw Extractor

Had a broken bolt drilled and took it out

By far the best easy outs / extractor ever especially for the price. In the second picture, I messed up on the drilling process. The craftsman extractor has very sharp threads, (unlike most easy outs) their fine and condensed and will dig in and grab the bolt. I worked as a engineer in the Navy, and I've seen all types of extractor tools, but not the craftsman tool. This should be the #1 tool issued to the NAVY and and it's fleet , knowing it's cost and effectiveness, this would have saved alot of time and tax payers money.

Well I've not use these bad babies yet but I can tell ya 1 things about em, they come with instructions and they were also a little late getting to me. Other than that it's all good!

Good craftsman quality. I used the 10mm ezout and cranked it as hard as I could, it flexed but did not bend. Had to cut off the head of the bolt, pull the aluminum pulley (washing machine) then heat up the shaft around the bolt. Then the ezout could do it's job nicely. You will need a tap wrench but could use a large crescent wrench if you are very careful with a vice grip on the opposite side to put even pressure as you turn. Didn't even scuff when i pulled it out.

Product as described and was successful removing the completely stripped screw we were struggling with.

I've struggled with getting stripped screws/bolts out, and found these and thought it sounded like a great idea. The build quality of these seems great, but I just couldn't get them to work. Maybe I wasn't doing it right, but regardless I think there is a learning curve to get past to get these to work for you. Ultimately I went with the type that goes around the screw/bolt/lug whatever. I think it's called a 'Rounded bolt extractor set' You can get these in varying sizes that would work for something like a lug nut or oil plug down to a screw if it is able to bite into it. Just give a few taps with a hammer to get it over and should come right out. Without someone showing me how to use these, I wouldn't buy them again.

Do not Recommend! Broke with first time use and left the screw half out! very fragile and cheaply made.

These are pretty well built, and though I have only used one, it did the job and did not break. Great price and grabbed the broken bolt well.
