It is now powered by 2 AAA batteries, whereas before you could charge it via a USB cable - which was the appeal. They should have at least changed the link to this product to indicate the change. The good news is, I suppose, that it is not powered by a button battery, as most of these thermometers are, as this makes them very expensive to run.
