Review: Fish liked it - These Tetra PRO Pleco Wafers have been a great addition to my aquarium. The wafers sink quickly, making them perfect for plecos and other bottom-feeding fish. My fish took to them right away and seem to enjoy the algae-rich formula. I also like that the wafers hold together well, so they don’t immediately cloud the water or create a mess. The container lasts a long time, and it’s nice knowing the food is nutritionally balanced for herbivorous bottom feeders. If you have plecos or other algae-eating fish, this is a high-quality food that’s well worth buying. Review: Must have, if you have broad leaf live plants - We have 2 Plecos in our fully planted 55-gallon aquarium. One pleco is approximately five inches long, while the other is around two 1/2 to three inches long. A few days after planting a few desertcart Swords, I noticed they were showing multiple holes in them, to the point where a few days later, 75% of the swords' leaves looked like lace. I racked my brain trying to figure out the problem and if it was invasive snails or bad water quality. Lo and behold, one night, I observed the smaller Pleco absolutely destroying one of the last healthy Swords. In all of my years with Plecos, I never had one eat our live plants. But, come to think of it, I always bought lesser broad-leafed plants. I did a little research and found that algae wafers would be a great option to keep the Pleco from eating the plants (in addition to cucumbers, etc). Because it was so late at night when I finally caught the little guy destroying the plants, I couldn't get to either a pet store for wafers or the grocery store for veggies. I ordered these PlecoWafers with a 4 am delivery and received them a few hours later in the morning. Since putting these in the aquarium, the little Pleco now only eats these and whatever algae is left on the glass that the larger Pleco doesn't get. Our three mystery snails also love the wafers. How do I know the Pleco leaves my desertcart Swords alone? After pruning all the destroyed leaves, I left 2 remaining leaves on their stems, and they have not been touched. I'm looking forward to new leaves growing in the future. This was an essential purchase, and again, our one Pleco and three snails love them. ## Features - PLECO FORMULATION: Supports the nutritional needs of herbivore bottom-feeders such as Plecostomus. - SINKING WAFERS WITH CONCENTRATED ALGAE: Provides a complete, balanced diet for algae eaters. - ALL-VEGETABLE SUPPLEMENT: Easily digested vegetarian fish food that’s naturally high in fiber. - DAILY USE: Feed only the amount that your bottom-feeding fish will consume within a few hours each day. - CLEAR-WATER FORMULA: Won’t cloud water when used as directed. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B0017JAPMQ | | Additional Features | Patented Extrusion Technology for Combined Staple Diet and Algae Center | | Age Range (Description) | All Life Stages | | Age Range Description | All Life Stages | | Allergen Information | Cashews Free | | Animal Food Diet Type | Vegetarian | | Animal Food Ingredient Claim | Additive-Free | | Best Sellers Rank | #1,309 in Pet Supplies ( See Top 100 in Pet Supplies ) #4 in Aquarium Fish Food | | Brand | Tetra | | Brand Name | Tetra | | Breed Recommendation | All Breed Sizes | | Container Type | Tub | | Customer Reviews | 4.6 out of 5 stars 21,856 Reviews | | Dog Breed Size | All | | Flavor | Fish | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00046798164487 | | Included Components | Wafers | | Item Form | Wafer | | Item Type Name | PlecoWafers for Algae Eaters | | Item Weight | 5.44 ounces | | Manufacturer | Tetra | | Manufacturer Part Number | 16448 | | Model Number | 16448 | | Number of Items | 1 | | Occasion | Birthday | | Package Size Name | 5.29 Oz Bag | | Pet Type | Fish | | Product Benefits | Balanced diet with added vitamins for fish health | | Recommended Uses For Product | Daily food source for bottom-feeding fish | | Special Ingredients | Algae Meal, Biotin, Omega-3 Fatty Acids, Ethoxyquin And Citric Acid | | Specific Uses For Product | Training | | Target Species | Fish | | UPC | 046798164487 | | Unit Count | 5.29 Ounce | | Warranty Description | Warranty | ## Product Details - **Age Range (Description):** All Life Stages - **Brand:** Tetra - **Flavor:** Fish - **Item Form:** Wafer - **Specific Uses For Product:** Training ## Images ![Tetra Pro PlecoWafers Fish Food for Algae-Eaters, 5.29 oz - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/615zyECRbZL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Size** options. ## Questions & Answers **Q: Will this feed my snail?** A: Snails need Moss wafers or pure algea, These have to high a protein for the best health of your snails. **Q: do these dissolve or get softer once theyre underwater?** A: They go underwater I guess they would eventually resolve if the fish did not eat them **Q: Will goldfish eat these? Would they like them?** A: I don't think there is anything a goldfish won't eat. Mine love them. **Q: Does it hurt the other fish?** A: No, not directly but if you put to many wafers in the tank and they set there for days it will degrade your water quality. Which in turn, will hurt your fish. Put just enough that will be eaten in a few hours. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fish liked it *by J***E on June 29, 2026* These Tetra PRO Pleco Wafers have been a great addition to my aquarium.
