On the 3rd July 1938 the LNER A4 locomotive 'Mallard' set the world speed record for a steam engine at 126 mph at Stoke Bank, south of Grantham. Years later with the nationalisation of the railways the locomotive's feat was not forgotten, with 'Mallard' maintaining its celebrity status among the trainspotters of the day while continuing to haul express passenger trains along the East Coast Mainline.

Disaster of a Christmas morning. Purchased this for my autistic 8 year old son who is a train enthusiast. Paid €230 worked for less than 30 seconds. Controller is like something from a €20 train set. Has 3 separate people look at it on Christmas morning as he was so upset. All said the same waste of money. When I started the refund with Amazon they offered me €16eur to not refund d or send back. Yet another insult for a Christmas ruined
