They came in solid containers. **Q: What is difference between a 40m/600g and a 50m/600g javelin?** A: The meter rating was designed to indicate the optimal distance the javelin had to travel to land point first at about a 5 degree angle. If you throw around 40 m, it is best to get a 40 m or a 50 m at max. If you throw 70 m range, it is best to get a 70 m or 80 m javelin. If the javelin is rated for throwing significantly further than you are throwing, it will land flat or tail first instead of sticking. It is applies to stiffness and weight distribution of javelin. Hope this helps. **Q: Can a rubber tip be put on this for practice?** A: Not sure why you would need a rubber tip, if throwing on a surface that would need a rubber tip you could ruin the javelin.
