Review: Has potential - Like others who choose to buy those product I have a sleep number bed circa 2016. We paid $8,400 for a split king. I absolutely never found my right number. My husband has always fluctuated between moderately firm to firm as I felt trapped by a massive purchase. Recently I finally decided I needed to do something besides replacing my half of the bed. I researched and researched and after recently sleeping on a Purple mattress which was heavenly I thought yep I could deal with the memory foam. I ordered a 3-in. It does have a little bit of an off smell now that it's been about 6 days after the video. It's probably the only thing I'm not a fan of but I know it's not a strong as the day I unpacked it. I am a size 14 and I sink in pretty well. And I don't have any real problem flipping from side to side or getting up. And while it's made the mattress so much more comfortable, I might have overdone the thickness. But you know it's only been five nights total. I think it's a little early. What I do like is that while sleeping on my side my arm hasn't fallen asleep which almost always happened no matter how I had my sleep number set. I also absolutely know I haven't been having pressure points at my hips or knee. That too is wonderful. The only area that hasn't had big change is my lower back which is just a good back that has had a few surgeries and it's challenged at times. So I might be asking for a lot for this to be the game changer but it does have potential. I also adore that this model comes with straps and frankly I loved that the cover already came on the foam piece... Some brands come with just the foam and you have to put (or not) a slipcover on it. Or it comes with a slipcover separate and I'm just of no mind to struggle with the initial set up!! I let it air out for 48 hours. I had it in our guest room with the ceiling fan going and after 24 hours flipped it over so the other side would air out... I think the smell is going to go away probably in another week. Anyway we got it on top of my side of the bed. (BTW, the twin XL is very one person friendly... But when the weight and the piece of the foam is unrolled and unsquished it becomes a little more gangly so if you're working on stairs it's probably smart to have somebody working with you.) I adjusted the straps to be pretty snug. Five sleeping nights later, and I get in and out of bed at least three times during the night, the piece has stayed put. If you do use the sleep number bed and sleep number sheets-- I have read that some people thought it pushes the limits of the sheets but my sheets fit exactly perfectly with this 3-in topper. I have no other memory foam or hybrid to compare this to so I really cannot say how it compares. But I'm giving it 5* because it really seems to be exactly what it's advertised to be. I had a firm mattress (we bought for my husband's back issues) and I was waking up aching all over, ironically with lower back pain likely due to being a side sleeper. I bought this in hopes we wouldn't have to drop thousands on a new mattress. I also bought a bamboo mattress sleeve with a zipper (even though this topper has a removable and washable cover, so it really wasn't necessary). I put it on top of our mattress, tucked the four straps underneath, and slipped the zipper cover (bought separately) over top- this was the only tricky part. But I do think it helps everything stay put, and since I still put a waterproof mattress cover over all of that, I doubt I will have to wash it but maybe twice a year. Let me tell you- I sleep like a rock on this thing. NO more aches and back pain when I wake up in the mornings. I truly think this topper has improved my sleep quality, it's really insane. I sleep through the night, it does not trap heat, and I wake up feeling rested. I want to mention- and this was strictly a bonus- it elevates my bed so my oversized quilted bedspread lays so nicely on it now. Whereas before it was draped onto the floor because my mattress alone is not tall. So my bed looks amazing all made up now. I bought this one instead of the tempurpedic, and I 100% think it was the best decision. Other reviews said that one got hot, and since my husband is hot natured especially through the night, I didn't want to risk paying more money for that one. I also love the fact that this one has a nonslip bottom and removable cover you can toss in the washer. I would recommend spending the extra 40 bucks or so to get a bamboo zipper mattress cover, because like I said it just keeps everything in place and nice and tight.
