I love this coffee maker. It is so simple, but it makes very tasty coffee. If you think about how to make coffee, you may agree that it is better that boiling water does not have contact with lots of other materials, like plastic, metal, etc. A conventional electric coffee maker has a plastic water tank which tends to become yukky after a while, I am sure that affects taste of the coffee. I have a metal french-press style coffeemaker but it sucks a lot of heat in winter (I am in Michigan), so I can not enjoy hot coffee. When I was in Costa Rica for holidays, I saw this and I decided I try, but I did not have time to shop while I was there. I was very happy when I found it on Amazon from this seller in Costa Rica. The customer service is great and I even had a greeting mail. It was in a very professional packaging so, it could be a great gift as well. The shipment was very fast. Most of all, this is hand made in Costa Rica and I love the feel of it...warm and organic! The cloth part is made with sturdy material so I probably do not need to buy another one for a while. I really recommend this to any coffee lover who has very sensitive taste.

We experienced a similar product on a tour of a Costa Rican coffee plantation, whose owner explained that paper filters detract from coffee’s flavor. This device uses a 100% cotton filter, and the result is amazing. Just pour boiling water down the cotton “sock” over the coffee grounds. The more the filter is used, the more it adds flavor to your cup. Just rinse the filter with warm water and air dry it. This stand is well made and quite sturdy. Additional filters are readily available. Every coffee lover should have one of these simple devices.

I like a good cup of coffee, really good. I have a variety of different, non-electric 'coffee makers'. This one was purchased because it was wood and the design is such that it would be acceptable for a Living History encampment. The wood grain is beautiful. Style is nice, portable and looks good on the kitchen counter, can't wait to see it at an encampment. Love the fact of it being hand-made by locals, using reforestation as well. I thought the personal email note from one of the owners impressive. Most of all...it makes a Fabulous cup of coffee!

My 85 yr old mother originally from Puerto Rico has used a cloth, drip filter all her life and I used to laugh at the simplicity of it to make coffee. However, now I realize how simple but super effective it is to make excellent tasting coffee. It can be reused countless times and is so environmentally friendly compared to the K-cup culture of today. The wooden stand is very easy to set up and built to last. Would definitely buy again for a gift.

Love this ! Lovingly primitive way to brew coffee! No filter but you do need to keep an extra sock filter. They become very dark after a while. Recommend washing them with salt and warm water. Great for camping or traveling to hosts who don’t drink coffee 👍

I just returned from Costa Rica and the Finca Rosa uses and sells this product in their restaurants... produces a great cup of coffee! Had to buy one. One of the pins was cracked, I contacted CR Woodcraft and they not only sent me 2 new pins BUT a whole new maker! A++ Customer service will recommend to ALL!

I bought this as a gift for my aunt, as she has wanted one for years. She loves it, it works great, and makes a wonderful cup of coffee.
