Gardirect Cedar Tray Bird Feeder: Wild Bird Feeders Platform

I had intended to put this below my feeder to catch seed. The only way to hang this from my feeder is to attach to the surrounding cage. Unfortunately, that closes the portals. I am going to hang it separately from a hook. Other than that it is sturdy and well made.

I love this type of feeder. I have 3 but my husband has to continuously fix the wires that attach to the box as they come loose.

I bought this for my birds who prefer flat surfaces to standard bird feeders.About the second night after hanging it, a bear came through our yard and destroyed two shepherd hooks. It missed the tray, but I am now afraid to leave any seed out overnight.I put out one feeder in the morning and bring it in at night. The tray is hanging in a tree away from the house, so I am waiting for fall to fill it, again.

I have not had many birds visit this yet. I'm not sure why. They seem to like the cylindrical feeders better. But I like it but it contains the feeder mess. We will see how it goes in the fall.

I really liked the product, but unfortunately the wires are not very secure. The first windy day we had it came loose, so now it won't hang correctly. =(

Love the wood and the wire hangers. This was the only feeder I saw that didn’t have large, eyesore screws holding the pieces together.However, wider staples should have been used to hold the mesh on the bottom as well as better staple placement. I bought three of these feeders and every single one has gaps where either the mesh wasn’t stapled on at all or the mesh pulled away from the tiny staple. I’m having to fix every one of these before I can even use them.

This item was great until a deer decided to jump up and pull it off the hook and the wirers where pulled out of clamps that they were attached too, I tried to reattach them but was unable to do so, I guess I will have to get some new clamps and try to fix it.

I think the mesh at the bottom could be tighter so there’s not so much seed spillage. Definitely attracts squirrels more than birds
