Excellent product.
Very pleased with it, battery lasts well, product is well designed and sturdy at a sensible price, a very good tool cuts well, shoulder strap is needed as is quite heavy and unwealdy if not used. Recomend it.

Cutter
Success in dealing with huge overgrowth hedge facing our house Useful charged by battery , extends well good reach , good to charge for an hour (then rest in that time) such a big hedge was hard to do Cut thicker branches after a full charge, can get stuck on them though I Cut an 8ft hedge overgrowth, pleased with length of cutter but still heavy,I’m 6ft and 20 stones , my wife couldn’t use extended and for only short time as shorter length , took 4 hours over 2 days with assistance picking up leaves etc Not great power but would be fine just maintaining hedges not such massive overgrowth

Great Trimmer but heavy to use
A great hedge trimmer which was to easy to assemble. Came with a fully charged battery. All the reviews I saw pre purchase mentioned that the trimmer is heavy and that is true. It is heavy and the weight balance is towards the cutters which does make it hard to use for extended periods as there is no centre balance. The supporting strap helps but doesn’t alleviate the problem. Other than the weight it’s a great tool and cuts fairly thick branches with ease.

Good trimmer
Very well made. Cuts through hedges with ease. If you are extending out and reaching straight out the end can be a tad heavy but gets the job done with ease! Battery life lasts a good while too and it’s nice you can see what level the battery is at. Would recommend for anyone who just needs to keep hedges or small branches on trees trimmed back

AWKWARD TO USE POORLY DESIGNED CAUSES PAIN.
Edited ,having to rewrite this after using twice, much reduced rating,as I'm in too much pain from using this thing. It does the job for thin branches, extends high up but its very awkward and heavy to use even low down as all the weight from the motor is on the cutting end ,so unless you are very muscular ,built like a mountain gorilla I would not recommend it,you get what you pay for, definitely not for the ladies......I am retired and used to hard work. There is no instructions for the body strap but it wasn't much use anyway wasted time trying to adjust it. Some of the job is nearly done for now , doing it in stages, there is a lot to do, overgrown, I really wanted to do it all in one go.... forced to having a rest because of the pain. ! its reasonably made for the price , BUT POORLY designed, its grossly unbalanced, unwieldy, the battery is powerful enough and charges quickly, but only used twice so far, cordless is a bonus, its quiet enough but a lighter design with the motor at the trigger handle end would be much easier to use ,switches are not easy to reach and should be nearer the U handle...which is in the wrong place anyway. You can buy these machines with the motor near the bottom handle end but they are much more expensive, sometimes with a very noisy petrol driven motor.......I don't want to spend too much its just for occasional use once I have it all under control. depends on your needs and fitness.. Frankly I would like to return it but seeing the trouble other customers are having getting a refund I cant be bothered , I don't want anymore stress on top of the pain I'm in...so I will have to grin and bear it just do a very small amounts at a time OR I may just cut the bush trunks down with saw..then keep it all trimmed with my small trimmer. NOT RECOMMENED AT ALL......

Better alternatives for the price
The battery feels like it’s in the wrong place. You can’t use without the pole. Gets heavy after a while. Power is also a bit of an issue, appreciate its a battery model but still a beak weak. Easy to assemble and feels good quality. Given the chance I’d go for another

Worth the cost.
The VonHaus Pole Hedge Trimmer is not the strongest tool out there, but it does the job really well for regular garden maintenance. The telescopic handle makes it easy to reach high hedges and bushes without needing a ladder, and it’s light enough to handle comfortably. It’s perfect for keeping your garden tidy and trimming smaller branches. Just don’t expect it to tackle very thick or tough wood. For routine trimming and upkeep, it works great and makes the job much easier.

Looks a good product...
Unfortunately, my order was apparently "lost in transit" by the carrier, Hermes although how you can lose a package that's 4ft long and 6" x 6" I have no idea. I contacted Von Haus through Amazon, who arranged a replacement to be delivered by independent courier and it arrived the next day so excellent customer service! As it hasn't stopped raining since receiving it so I haven't been able to use it in the garden but I have put it together in the house and it seems a very good product. The weight isn't too bad and balance, particularly with the supplied shoulder strap, seems good. The battery and charger are compact in size and the battery arrived in full charge state. The plastic blade guard is flimsy and isn't easy to put back on the blade but then I suppose this helps to keep the price down. Overall, pleased with my purchase but especially with the Von Haus customer service. UPDATE: Used the trimmer for the first time on the hedgerow at the bottom of my garden which is a mixture of conifer, pyracantha etc an about 8ft high. This is a good trimmer for domestic garden use but I wouldn’t recommend for commercial. Initially the trimmer didn’t seem as powerful as I thought it might be but it coped admirably. I found it easy to adjust the length and the shoulder strap enabled me to balance it. All these things have some weight to them especially when extended but this was one of the lighter ones I’ve tried. I’m 70 and 12st and after about half an hour I found my arms getting tired and starting to ache so I stopped. I had done as much as I had intended though and there were still 2 bars of battery left of the 3 I started with. Last year I got someone in to trim this hedge at a cost of £200 so as long as I keep my health I think this will prove a good buy! One minor negative: the nut came off the bolt that holds the shoulder strap and is lost in the hedgerow somewhere. I found a replacement in my box of bits but I probably should have checked it was tight before starting the job! Overall, pleased with my purchase.
