Mermaids: An Adult Coloring Book with Beautiful Fantasy Women, Underwater Ocean Realms, Fun Sea Animals and Relaxing Tropical Beaches

I was surprised at the high quality of this book -- it's the first Jade Summer coloring book I've purchased, and I wish now that I hadn't waited so long to discover this excellent brand. Images are single-sided, with the back side printed black. There are 30 unique images, and with two of each image, the book weighs in at a hefty 60 pages. Great value for the price! The mermaids are beautiful (also scantily clad and rather busty, so be aware that this may not be for the skin-shy), with an art style that is not manga-esque at all; they actually really remind me of the vintage Barbie coloring books of the 80s that I loved as a child. I bought the book for myself, and while adults will certainly enjoy it, it isn't too complex for coloring by older children. Best part of all: the book includes a code for a free download of a high-quality PDF file containing every image in the book, so you can print off as many copies of the coloring pages as your heart desires! I highly recommend this book for anyone who enjoys coloring images of beautiful mermaids or ocean scenes.

This is a new Mermaids coloring book by Jade Summer (note that this coloring book is not a duplicate of their first coloring book of the same title which is no longer available because of potential copyright issues.) These designs are inspired by the sultry and sensuous sirens of the sea. These are creatures who certainly can be considered enthralling with their come hither poses and inviting eyes. The designs show them above and below the waves and even with pirates and treasure. The designs are detailed but not what I consider intricate with small areas to color. I am able to use a wide variety of coloring medium on these designs. While you can have access to .PDFs when you purchase this book, my review is based on the book as it is received from Amazon. That way you will know what the pages look like and how they accept color. I like that the publisher provides the digital version as well so you can choose the paper you wish to use and/or to color the pictures as many times as you choose. This is what I found while coloring in this book and testing the paper with my coloring medium: 30 x 2 each – Sensuous Mermaid Designs (total of 60 design pages) Paper is typical of CreateSpace: white, thin, slightly rough and non-perforated. The back of the page is printed black. The designs do not merge into the binding. There is a heavy framing line at the outer edges of the design to give the project a more finished look, especially for framing. There is a slight shadowing effect to the framing line which gives the image an almost 3D effect. Glue Binding (there is room to cut the pages out if you choose to do so.) Though you cannot see the bleed-through easily due to the back of the page being printed in black, I recommend the use of a blotter page when working in this book. I use a page of card stock or several sheets of heavyweight paper under my working page. It keeps seeping ink and marring dents from ruining the pages below. Alcohol-based markers bleed through the page quickly. Water-based markers bleed through in spots. Gel pens and India ink pens leave shadows on back of the page. India ink can bleed through if you apply heavily or multiple coats. Coloring Pencils work well with this paper. I found that I could layers the same color for deeper pigment or multiple colors and I could blend easily using a blending stick. I tested both oil and wax based pencils. I also found that hard lead pencils leave dents through the paper.

I love this book. Print is good, lines aren't too thin. Love the extra images. Illustrations are sexy but not overly sexy. I wish there were more fantasy landscapes since I haven't been able to find good ones anywhere. Some of the mermaids have markings, like tattoos, on their face and I don't care for that too much. I do love this book!

Way too many fish scales images to color, will have to be in the mood for circling them. I know it's a coloring book on mermaids, but seriously , I would probably do a few, all in all its a beautiful book, okay. I would have liked to see some male Greek gods coming out of the see as well. There are black back pages , full background detailed as well as beautiful pictures of the mermaids.

Didn't know what to expect as I have not colored in years but the quality of the line art was great as well as the type of paper. Lots of variety to keep busy. My only complaint is that part way through I noticed the images were repeated. Don't recall if others had this issue or if I got a bad copy. It's not a deal breaker & the upside is I get to color a favorite image again. *Edit* After checking it again page by page there is a note that the duplicates are intentional & for extra practice. 4 to 5 stars.

I am a huge mermaid fan and the drawings inside this book are wonderful. It's nice that they have two copies of each image so I can play around with different coloring or techniques on the same picture. It's also great that they're single sided with solid black on the other side of each mermaid drawing. I actually also really enjoy that purchasing the book also comes with access to the digital copy as well. I do wish that there was a slightly different way to access the digital images, i.e. on their website versus e-mailing, but I was still very happy and pleased with the option to get the digital versions! I really like this book and I bring it to work to color during lunch to wind down if I need it.

I color with only gel pens and found that the black backing on the pages turns the picture slightly grey because of the wet gel. For colored pencils I think it would be great! I love some of the pictures in this book and absolutely detest others. I don’t like the whole evil mermaid thing and some of the pictures I would feel embarrassed to have others see. However, if only for the pictures I do love this book is worth getting!

I love mermaids (so much that I even have a mermaid tattoo) and I'm really enjoying this coloring book! There's so many beautiful, sexy merbabes to choose from. The art is gorgeous and it comes with duplicate pages in case you want to recolor a picture (or give one to a friend). The paper quality isn't the best I've seen, nor us it the worst. It's right for the price. There's something for everyone if you like the theme of mermaids/sea scenes. This is one of my favorite coloring books at the moment for sure!
