I don't know what they were thinking taking this from thier flagship tape. Its still the best regular tape measure made. SMALL hooks, NO magnets, tape measures peaked at this model right here, unless you use those things specifically for your job.This was, is, and most likely will be, the best overall general purpose. They used to have a warrantee, well that didn't work out so well and they should have known better. Wore out? Go to lowes, they don't care.Durable, NOT so bendy (the standout is alot better due to lack of weight on the end).Better than a homeowner needs, unless he's building a deck or remodeling. Its 40% off right now. Thats pretty good, this is a good price. Its a 20$ tape for sure.

Durable Tape
I have been using Stanley tapes for 50 years of my career in the carpentry business. They are durable and last for a long time. They are also balanced. And this tape has the wide blade that you can shoot out without it bending or twisting. The majority of carpenters in California use Stanley tapes.

Honored their warranty
An update to the review below. I sent my fat max back to Stanley and they sent me back another brand new one. So far the new one works perfectly. Stanley has added a protective coating to the end of the tape which has already peeled off and taken the measurement marks with it. I use my tale fairly regularly, buy not in extreme environments. It should last years, not 3 months.
