In recent years I have wasted so much time on my iPhone that I've started to feel like a human smart phone. While I love my iPhone and will never give it up, I am looking for more analog, old school ways to handle daily activities including managing my time. I invested in a paper planner, and I got this hour glass. I LOVE IT! This hourglass is simple, classic and beautiful. It's about 5.5 inches tall, lightweight, and small enough to easily carry around the house. Because there's no buzzer alarm (like on an iPhone stopwatch), it trains me to be mindful and intentional about what I'm doing, so that I don't waste excessive amounts of time. I have to look at the hourglass to see roughly where I'm at. This helps me to be more responsible rather than using the phone as a crutch and then constantly picking up the iPhone, which can lead to doom scrolling and going down a social media rabbit hole. When I am having trouble getting motivated to do household chores, this hourglass helps. If I need to declutter a room, clean the bathroom or organize the pantry, I flip over the hourglass and get started and tell myself "it's only 30 minutes." When the sand runs out, I can quit knowing that I at least got something done, or I can flip the hourglass over again and do another 30 minutes. On the flip side, it is also helpful if I feel guilty about taking a time out to do something fun like reading when there are other things that seem higher priority. I'll allow myself 30 minutes for a reading break and I don't end up feeling cheated or resentful for not having taken a time out. I love this so much, I may get one just for the bedside table so that I don't stay up half the night scrolling on my phone. The accuracy on my 30-minute timer is pretty close, at 28 minutes and 24 seconds. Love this and am very happy with my purchase!

I got this hourglass and it looks great but I was just disappointed in the size with this hourglass. It's a lot smaller in size than what I expected.

It looks even better than in the pictures—super elegant, well-made, and with a mesmerizing flow of sand. Watching the sand slowly trickle down is incredibly relaxing, almost like a mini meditation session. It’s the perfect little desk or shelf accessory, both functional and decorative. Works perfectly

A complement to any desk or bookcase. The simple style will go well with any decor, from antique to modern. I can't vouch for its timekeeping accuracy. Buy a cheap digital watch. I will echo what someone said: It's soothing to watch the falling sand. Like many other buyers, I found mine had come apart in shipping. The (MDF?) end had come loose from the plastic rods. Fortunatly, the fitted foam packing kept the flask from breaking. To repair, be sure to use a glue that will adhere to "wood" and plastic. I used Fix-All adhesive by Super Glue. You'll need good dexterity or a third hand to align the point of the flask with its rubber mount AND all 4 rods with their sockets at the same time. I used large rubber bands to hold it together while the glue cured.
