Iwatani International Iwatani PRO2 Culinary Butane Torch for sous vide, Adjustable Flame with Reverse Use for Desserts, Creme Brulee, BBQ and Baking (Butane Fuel Not Included)

This was recommended by a chef I admire. I was going to get a cheaper one, but realised it is best to go with a well known brand when the item might explode in your hand! Some of the cheaper ones had scary reviews. I would rather have an intact hand than the £25 I would have saved.

Despite Iwatani being mentioned many times in the product name and description, upon arrival the packaging only mentions "Fapend". I have contacted Iwatani and they have made it clear that they have no affiliation with this other company. I bought this specifically because I had seen recommendations for the Iwatani PRO2. This product appears similar, but because it is actually manufactured by a different company, there is no guarantee that it will offer the same performance or safety characteristics.

Just finished talking to an Amazon associate who assured me this was genuine Iwatani by pasting the product description into the chat. I'm not convinced. I've had it just under a year. I've only used it a handful of times to light paper in my BBQ chimney starter and to burn leftover feathers off chicken thigh pieces. Despite LIGHT use the gas/flame regulator is non-responsive and gas won't even flow out of it, so I can't light it up. Maybe that's for the best.

The top just sheared right off. The metal was soft and cheap. We have another of these that works great but this one was faulty

I ordered this as a gift and they have just opened it to find it is broken, can I please have a replacement or a refund please

Very powerful tool, ideal if you are a serious cook

Yo lo utilizo para hacer encausto (técnica de arte con cera) y funciona muy bien el control de la flama. Muy fácil ponerlo en los tanques de butano marca trupeper.

I’ve not owned a proper kitchen torch til now and after reading the reviews on this and the cheaper Chinese units I decided that I’d step up to the Japanese device. Very well made and it works marvelously. Looking forward to the many uses I will be putting it to from charring steaks and chicken skins to re-lighting added charcoal in my grill. Eff the Chinese crap.

Its a scam, this is not iwatani and the returns are not free so basically if you buy this you will get stuck with a bad quality product.
