Rainbow Research Henna Hair Color and Conditioner Persian Red, 4 Ounce

A little red henna goes a long way. A great product as usual. I first mixed a jar of Strawberry blonde and approx 1/3 of a jar of Red Henna, I mixed chamomile tea and dried Calendula flowers and made a very strong tea and used that for the liquid for the henna mixture along with 2 tablespoons of Apple Cider vinegar,and a few drops of Pure lavender oil for smell. I applied and kept it on for 2 1/2 hours applied heat with a shower cap style dryer. It came out great on mids and ends. So vibrant on top and the back not so good. I believe it didnt take cuz I applied henna and wrapped the hair in a bun and it was underneath the bun. So I waited a few weeks and did just the roots. It took better, more highlights. I refused the amount this time more red the rest of the jar and 1/4 jar of strawberry blonde . I love applying Calendula flowers to the mix, it's adds lots of vibrancy, Calendula is similar to a Marigold flower but it's not but wjen used in hair it's a gold, orange color and I love it in my mix. It's also called a Pot Marigold. I'll definitely be using it again.

I was addicted to the rouge henna from Lush and about a year ago they changed their formula and it was complete garbage(they have since switched back to the original recipe because of the backlash from fans) so I was in a hunt for a henna that gave me similar results and this stuff is great! I have tried the copper and the red! Copper gave more of a orangey hue and the red is bright and vibrant! I did miss the added moisturizing ingredients that Lush adds so I mixed this powder with a can of coconut milk and it’s perfect! Plus it is actually was less messy than the lush version I had been using for 5 years so this may be my new favorite overall!Plus the price point is pretty cheap! I have medium/ long length although my hair is pretty thin but I easily get to uses out of This jar! And compared to the $31 dollar price point for lush (also two uses) that’s great! If you are new to henna a few tips: never use metal to mix your henna whether it be a spoon or mixing bowl, metal can change the composition of the henna! Be sure to prep with lots of paper towels! Line your hairline with Vaseline or something similar if you want to avoid stains! Always use gloves! And be sure that the area you are dying in is either lined with paper or old towels because it does crumble and tend to get everywhere! Also heat is your friend with henna! Wrapping your head in plastic wrap then wrapping with a towel or cap is great and you can also put a blow dryer on it for 20-30 min to active that color more! I have also added lemon to this in the past to brighten up the color as well! Happy dying!

I decided to try this henna in the shade red since it is pure and very affordable. I also liked that it came in a jar. It arrived quickly, and I was excited to try it. I used hot water from my tap, although it’s probably is best to use distilled, and mixed about 3/4 of the jar with it in a plastic bowl. It was just enough to cover my hair, which is a little below my shoulders. It does have a very earthy smell, but it didn’t make my eyes water like conventional dyes, so I don’t mind it. I washed my hair with a clarifying shampoo, and then applied the henna with gloved hands to my damp hair. I believe having the hair damp made it much easier to apply. I also made sure that the henna wasn’t too runny or dry. It was similar to a thicker yogurt’s consistency. After applying, I wrapped my hair with plastic wrap, and put a towel over my head. I occasionally used a hair dryer to apply heat as well. I left the henna on for two hours. Washing it off didn’t take long for me since the henna was still wet on my head. It stopped bleeding quickly in the shower as well. Now it’s a few days later, and I have several different reddish tones in my hair, ranging from copper to burgundy. Indoors my hair looks dark auburn, and in the sunlight it looks much brighter and more coppery. I’m really happy with the process and results. I will continue to apply this henna. It was not as difficult or messy for me as I thought it would be. Plus my hair is now extra shiny and feels soft.

I have been using henna to dye my hair for about 3 years now. I love it and have only ever used the Rainbow brand since it's always worked fantastic for my hair, and their prices are reasonable for sure. I have light brown/dark blonde hair and the persian red is the perfect shade. Doesn't look unnatural, even when roots start growing in, it just all kind of blends together. I keep the henna in my hair much longer than they suggest. Usually do it on a day/night I just wanna hang out inside because I leave it in 3-5 hours before showering it out of my hair. Makes my hair feel smooth, silky, and refreshed, instead of like other dye that dries out and splits my hair. Definitely a more healthy, natural way to dye your hair! I'd recommend this to anyone who wants to dye their hair - just try out henna and see how you like it :) It lasts up to a few months and you can do it as much and as often as you want without sacrificing your hair! Save your hair and get the henna!!!

I really like the color, but it’s been drying my hair out something awful. I usually use a different brand and I have a whole henna protocol that usually leaves my hair soft and shiny. This henna somehow seems a bit harsher and my hair has been getting brittle

This was my first time using Henna and I am so pleased. I've used permanent dyes and temporary dyes at home, red, black, and even blue. This one may have looked mucky and messy to apply, but compared to other home dyes it left the least stain in the sink and around my bathroom. Though it took twice as long to set, and I had to get creative to seal it while it dried since I didn't have a cap. (plastic bag from the grocery store worked :) hurray). I spooned gobs of it onto my head, blended it a bit with gloved hands, then combed it through my hair. That process seemed to do the trick to get all my hair covered. It did smell fairly pungent and looked a sickly green/brown color, but in the end I had a coppery red hair that is amazingly soft to the touch ^_^ Some parts look dark red or auburn because my hair is dark brown, but the highlighted parts are coppery red. Plus since my hair is short I was able to save the majority of the powder to use another time. My husband has seen me use a few other red dyes, and this is the first time he's said it looked natural. At first I was disappointed it wasn't as bold as I'd hoped. But after an hour I was in love. Plus I don't mind the idea of regular touch ups, because they'll double as an extra conditioning treatment ^_^ (love super soft hair).

Did not work. Tried again with lemon juice and the red still did not appear at all.

Isn't it that black hair turns white, and red hair turns white? Well. I have plenty of *bright white* strands these days. If it weren't for Rainbow Red Henna brewed up with Calendula Tea, I would have glow-in-the-dark hair. Not kidding. It is shocking. The white strands seem to take up the henna the best, actually, and turn sort of a crystallized red - they glitter! I love it! For me, the tea takes it all less purple and more orange, which is what several women in my family had... before it turned snow white. Plan ahead, wear old clothes, have the shower cap or plastic bag and 2 old towels ready - it is messy if you don't have someone applying it for you. My approach: disposable vinyl gloves, dip my fingers in and run them along my scalp - bag the head for the heat - add 1 old towel to catch drips (other is for the pillow), chip-clip it - wear it for about 2 hours. Henna is the most magical conditioner ever. Rinsing it out, I always think Oh this is dry and gross, but I do shampoo and heavily condition immediately, and the next day I have magic hair: soft, shiny, moisturized without being heavy, and a red that would make my Scottish and Irish ancestors envious. I do see a lot of hair come out when rinsing, but I'm a big shedder anyway. So thrilled to have discovered this!
