In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body." Taking the acronym of this phrase, ASICS was founded on the belief that the best way to create a healthy and happy lifestyle is to promote total health and fitness. Today, ASICS offers a full line of performance-driven athletic shoes and technical active sports apparel and accessories dedicated to bringing harmony to the body and soul. Review: Sometimes you CAN judge a book by its cover (but maybe because you've had a similar one before!) :) - ***Edited 5/20/2015*** I've been wearing this for about a month now, mostly for brisk walking (it's my I-need-to-walk-fast-to-get-to-work-on-time-shoes) and occasionally when I get some running in. One thing I've noticed: a) you really do need to wear sports socks/thicker socks/socks with some sort of cushioning on the heel. That might be obvious with sports shoes, I know, but there were a couple of times that I ran out of my sports socks so I wore regular ones, and the hard area of the shoe by the heel kept digging into my "inner heel" (sorry, I don't know what foot parts are called). It was incredibly uncomfortable and for about 10 blocks I kept squirming and trying to adjust my foot to the shoe, trying not to bang my heel on that hard part. So lesson learned: either sports socks, or double up! I don't think it's the size, like I could've ordered a size up more (I'm an 8/8.5 in regular shoes, 9 in sneakers) and went for a 9.5 but I know that would've been too big. ****( this is my second Asics pair and I got this solely on face value and from reviews online. The colors looked scrumptious, and I'm so glad they actually looked like what they are pictured. Actually, I first saw these on Dick's sporting goods website and the colors looked off on their photos..also they were about $15 more expensive there. These came as expected, and I tried them on right away. I was initially wary, because they felt tight ( they are a size 9--i'm an 8.5 in reg shoes, 9 in sneakers) and the arch felt weird at first. but i adjusted the laces, got used to the arch (and I need it because I have low arches), and used them to walk, and then run, the family dog! and we were running hard! they felt great, like I've broken them in days weeks before. Very comfortable, and like i said, great to look at (and i am normally of the gray/white/black/blue sneakers variety). I knew Asics would be a great choice for me again! Highly recommend these. Review: Great Shoes - I tried a 13 on in Kohls, all they had, and like the fit and feel, but these days I'm usually ending up with size 14 or maybe 13.5 if available. So I ordered a pair of size 14 on desertcart. So far the are great. I've not gave them a great workout yet, but I anticipate no issues. They are a D width, but are narrow for a D. But for me that is great because I have torpedo's attached to my ankles and often my feet swim in size D. So if you are snug in a D, these will probably be too snug for you. The 13's at Kohls and these 14s feel the same way so I think it is common to all sizes. I saw another reviewer comment like that as well. As for length, it really depends on the manufacture of the shoe. I wear both 13 and 14, just depends on the type of shoe and/or who made it. I have an ASICS shoe that I use in the gym (weights and elliptical) that has lasted for years. I'm finally replacing them because I can't imagine the inner sole support hasn't decayed, although they still feel very good on my feet. I have high arches, so I may add a little additional arch support to these at some point, but for others, that may not be a factor. Five stars for now, anticipate no changes.

Great Shoes

So far, pleasantly surprised.
I was really pleased with these shoes. I've been running Asics for years now. The last several pairs have been the gt 2000, but I couldn't find the size and color that I wanted so I thought I'd give these a try based on the positive reviews. So far, so good. As with all my Asics, I bought them a size up. I typically wear a 6.5 in all shoes, but a 7.5 in Asics is comfortable. These shoes are lightweight enough but still offer plenty of stability and support for mid distance running. I haven't run more than 5 miles in these yet, so we'll see how the hold up. And the colors are great!

GREAT for high arches and Plantar Fasciitis!!!!! :)
I recently started hitting the gym more and my poor Sketchers Go Walks (which I loved!) were not only falling apart, but were just not cut out for the amount of walking/zumba/kickboxing I have been doing. I have struggled with Plantar Fasciitis flair ups in my right foot for about a year now. I actually began getting PF pain after wearing a pair of tennis shoes that didn't fit properly, so I've had concerns about purchasing new tennis shoes and was worried I would never find a pair that fit well enough that I could exercise as much as I wanted to. This shoe was recommended in an article for people with PF pain and after reading reviews, I was sold. I have had them for about a month and they are WONDERFUL. My feet feel instantly supported and my PF pain is completely gone when wearing these. I have had no trouble walking long distances (5+ miles), dancing it out at Zumba, or doing Power Blast/Kickboxing classes. They are easily my most favorite purchase of the year so far and have really enabled me to remain as active as I am. I wish I would have found them sooner! Also, I love the bright blue color! I was worried that they might be more teal-ish when I saw Emerald, but they are the perfect bright blue! I would recommend these to anyone! Fantastic price- Incredible Shoe!

The MOST COMFORTABLE shoe I've EVER owned!
I have been dealing with Plantar Fasciitis for over 2 years, with my feet taking turns making my life miserable. I bought a different pair of Asics shoes last year and they worked very well in relieving some of the pain. Over time, however, the relief wore off as the shoe got more and more broken in. After about a year or so, it was time to find a new pair. Amazon was out of the other shoes so I decided to try these (being a Prime member means free returns on many items, so, why not try them?!). I was AMAZED that right out of the box they fit great and, more importantly, they FELT GREAT! NO pain, NO break-in period, just AHHHHH!!! I've worn them all day for days now and my foot is doing MUCH better all the way around! BIG JOY!! I don't recall ever owning a pair of shoes that felt so right. They support my arch so well, I don't even think about my feet most of the time...a HUGE improvement over the misery of the past! :) Did I forget to mention that they are really cute, too?! I'm buying another pair before these are sold out!

Really vibrant color and surprisingly good fit!
As you can tell from my photo, the shoes are a lot more vibrant than advertised. Didn't bother me, but something you might want to consider before purchasing. I bought these in the medium width since they were the only ones available in my size and I was a little concerned about the fit, because I have pretty wide feet. But these are really comfortable. I don't find the toe box constricting at all. I'm usually a 6.5 in regular shoes, but my general rule of thumb for running shoes is to go up half a size. I purchased a pair of ASICS in 6.5 a few days ago just to test the fit and found my big toe hit the top of the toe box ever so slightly, which I personally don't like. I know some people prefer their shoes a little more snug than others. I haven't really had a chance to break these in yet, but one thing I could see becoming a problem is the back of the shoe rubbing up against my ankle. Unlike my old Nike free runs, these shoes are pretty high and the material in the back of the shoe is fairly rigid. My friend who owns a pair of ASICS has said she's gotten really bad blisters from running in them and I can see what she's talking about. She says wearing high socks helps though.

3 months, already falling apart
I have loved Asics sneakers for their lightweight support and durability for years and ordered these because I needed every day walking sneakers. I received them the second week of January and hate to report that, barely 3 months later, they are already falling apart. There is a hole forming in the mesh on top of the toe and the outer side of both sneakers is starting to crack and separate. I should add that I purchased a pair of running sneakers in another brand a month earlier, which I have already worn for hundreds of miles road running, and they show no sign of wear whatsoever, so having basic walking sneakers fall apart was disappointing. I do not wear these when it is wet out either so it isn't a matter of the elements eating them away. They are comfortable, they support my feet well (which is nice when you over pronate), and the color is definitely fun. I had to order a half size larger than normal because they run slightly small, but the width was fairly normal. One more small gripe, the shoelaces are too short. You can barely tie them in a bow, let alone attempt to double knot them (which you need to do since they are too short to tie a sturdy bow into). As I mentioned, I have owned many different pairs of Asics in the past and they have always lasted me 10-12 months before breaking down, so maybe this is just a fluke. 3 stars since they fit well and are comfortable, but I couldn't give it anymore due to the poor structural integrity.

Great Shoe
I absolutely LOVE my Asics Gel Exalt shoes. They are super comfortable and breathe exceptionally well. I am so happy with this purchase. They provide good support and comfort and with the surrounding mesh they are super light and breathable. I have had these shoes for almost a year and can not find anything that I don't love. I get compliments on the color and design all the time. I wear them whenever I work out. I used to wear a different name brand shoe but I found that it did not hold up as well, and I found my feet aching at the end of my workout. But with my ASICS I won't lie and say that my feet feel like I've been walking on pillows after my 5 mile trek, but there is not the unbearable pain I had before. I believe the gel padding used, makes a tremendous difference. My only complaint would be that the laces are a little short. to get a good double knot is difficult. But this is not a big deal. You will not be disappointed when wearing your ASICS Women's Gel-Exalt 2 Running Shoe. The ice blue and hot pink can't be beat. Also I wear an 11.5 shoe and I have wide feet. I have a difficult time finding a good shoe that is also cute. But these are perfect and if you have wide feet like me you don't want to pass these up!

decent runners, little long for my feet.
Good pair of runners. feel a little large for the size, but could be the shape of my feet! Another pair of Asics gels (different type) fit me perfectly.
