How much weigjt can sit on it? Could it be used as an extra seat?

I wouldn't do that. The only thing that I sit on the top are extra blankets and things. It's not made to be a seat.

Is the lid removable or able to fold backwards flat? I’m looking to keep it open as a shoe basket in the entryway.
