Japanese Sakura Mochi Rice Cake Candies 300g

These are my absolute freakin favourite sweets. I’ve been buying them consistently for a couple years now. Very unique taste, not too strong, the aftertaste is incredible and they’re sparkly too! They go very well with a cup of coffee. Texture is very soft and slightly chewy. The individual packaging is so cute too :) makes a wonderful gift.

These candies are absolutely delicious and I can't help sneaking them in occasionally when I'm ordering something else from Amazon. The Sakura flavour is delicate and lovely and like all mochi they are wonderfully soft & squidgy. They are quite expensive but come all the way from Japan!

the texture is nice, however the taste of sakura is not exact. not as sweet as other mochis comparable which is nice.

Absolutely delicious! Really well made and individually wrapped. Sweet and slightly floral as you might expect. Coated in very fine sugar to stop them sticking to the inside of the wrapper, they survived the recent hot weather without melting and weren't a sticky mess. Very impressed. Certainly not super cheap but not overly expensive for what you get and the quality seems consistent.

Things I liked:Individually wrappedSubtle Sakura flavourThings I disliked:Everything else akaTexture.I was excited to try some mochi after a long time, but I was mistaken by thinking that it would be stretchy and firm, like the mochi I've had before. This was a small shapeless blob of rice based sugary nothingness - it has the texture of very loose pudding barely held together by the gluten in the rice itself. The mouthfeel of it made my stomach turn. I couldn't get past it enough to enjoy the subtle flavours - and they were lovely and sweetly scented.If, like me, you order this product thinking it might be a texture closer to mochi used in daifuku or dango or even mochi bricks you can reheat, then be aware this is VERY soft and extremely squishy with no stretch and no toothsome feel to it.If you're into this kind of texture, it's for you and worth trying! (or if texture isn't an issue for you- congrats if not, I'm jealous of you!)I know better now, and I'll be sending the rest of them along to my friends abroad as little extras with their birthday gifts - a feat only doable as they are individually wrapped so I can send a few to each one.
