I am just four full days into rototilling a 35' x 40' sodded hard clay and tons of river stone that is typical of the coastal PNW. That said, this tiller is exceptional so far. If I don't update this review, it means I finished with the same impressive early results. Because we have some 4"x4"x8" stones, I first take a spade to dig out the sod& move it about 8' up the row. then turn over all the hard clay and stones with the spade. That way I can remove all the stones that could harm the tiller blades. I then churn up the sod while my wife used a rake as the sod spits out, then we put the hard till on the soil. The net result is well tilled soil ready to be amended with a dump truck of compost that is forthcoming. As for the cord, if I had sandy soil that is easy to till, I would not buy this product, I would just get the two wheel hand plow over at Hoss Tools. If you have easy sandy soil, you would move a lot faster with the rototiller. But with my hard clay and rock, the extension cord is a non issue. I do not move much while tilling. So I am glad this is not battery operated. You would need a whole bunch of batteries to get through the day; no thank you. The cord is great. The power of the motor is more than adequate. My only con is the Spring Lock pin doe not engage the hole to hold the wheels in place. I have to use a hammer to get the pin in properly. Great tool. If it lasts the whole project, I will be happy. After the first go round, I doubt I will use the tiller any more, I will be doing no till veg-garden using the Hoss Tools Double Wheel Plow. Update: Completed a 35' x 28' patch from grass and river stone and extremely hard clay in the PNW, to fully tilled and sifted for a veg-garden. We easily removed 4' x 8' x 12' of rock and clay. So this was an extremely difficult conversion. The Tiller survived and did extremely well. We also had filament line in the sod that got tangled up in the blades every day. The way the outer blades easily slide off to clean made this proecess quick and easy. Exceptional design, very durable machine and plenty of power.

Ok so I’m a middle aged woman with inflammatory arthritis. I wasn’t going to bother planting a garden this year. I didn’t like always having to bother somebody or hire someone to till up my small garden. but my love of gardening and the price of produce right now changed my mind. After reading the reviews I decided to go with this one because you can take the tines off and make it smaller to go between rows once your garden is up. Assembly was super easy all that was needed was one screwdriver. I used a 100 foot heavy duty extension cord from Costco and it worked just fine to power it up. I was shocked when I started it the machine almost pulled out of my hands it had so much power. My garden hadn’t been worked since last spring so the ground was quite hard. I managed to do this within half an hour. At this price the tiller already half paid for itself - I was paying someone to do this is at least $100. very pleased with this purchase and I highly recommend it to anyone.

I don't do a ton of tilling, but had purchased this to make things easier for myself. I'm a single woman in my 60's without a lot of upper body strength. Since buying this tiller, I've been able to till 2 very large areas for planting grass seed, and one large area for planting bulbs. I have thick, clay soil with lots of rocks and hidden roots. This has handled all of these tasks beautifully and I love that it's so very simple to operate. It's very powerful so I always need to be sure to keep a good grip on it so it doesn't get away from me. A nice safety feature is that it shuts off the instant you release the handle. The blades do not keep whirling after the handle is released. I assume that most people are stronger than I am, so for those who are, this thing should be a breeze to use. Though I don't use it frequently, I think this was well worth the investment, and it's already paid for itself. It's built very sturdily, and gives me the freedom to tackle projects on own without having to wait for or pay my yard guy. It can till to a depth of 8", though you can go deeper with subsequent passes. I like that it's electric and I advise using a low guage extention cord as recommended, to get the most power & longevity from this device. Also, it's nice that it doesn't take up a ton of room in my garage. I couldn't have done my planting without it, and so far I've had great results. If you need a tiller, I definitely recommend this one. I'm glad to have it in my arsenal of tools.
