Alfred's Basic Adult All-In-One Course, Bk 3: Lesson * Theory * Technic, Book & CD (Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course) (Paperback) - Common

I have all three courses. So far I have found it to be great way to learn. I don’t have a tutor and I think it’s set up to be used with one but so far it’s not been an issue.

I can't praise this series of books enough. I started off with Book 1, and I have learned so much in the process. The emphasis on learning basic chords and their progressions for me was revelatory. I only got up to Grade 5 in piano, and struggled to get that far with a bare pass. I wish my piano teacher had guided me in this way.If you are a complete beginner and self-studying, then I think this course is not very accessible, but even if you have only had a few lessons it is easy to use the knowledge to make the most out of this book. Brilliant, and has enticed me back into playing the piano again. I suppose the only caveat is appreciating the difference in the American terminology for musical terms, but actually I find this more sensible.The music pieces to practise are a real treat, but of course this is a personal thing. I have no reservations on recommending this whole series at all.

I brought this as a gift for my brother, which he loved.

These are excellent teaching aids, highly recommend.

I have now purchased Books 1 to 3 - they are really good. Although I have been playing for a while there is still stuff to learn. I like the way the learning is approached. Would highly recommend.
