Finally found “the ones” – excellent comfort and real wind noise reduction
I love these earplugs. I’ve tried several different options before landing on these, and I think I’ve finally found the ones. Protecting your hearing is vital, especially if you spend long hours on a motorcycle. For context, I used standard foam earplugs for years while riding my Harley Road Glide with a modular helmet. That setup worked fine — the big fairing and tall aftermarket windscreen kept wind noise under control. But that all changed when I got my 2025 Yamaha XSR900 — a naked sport bike with zero wind protection. I found out fast how brutal the wind noise can be at speed. My first fix was upgrading to a full-face helmet for a better seal, which helped a little but not enough. I then tried a few “motorcycle-specific” earplugs from other brands. They reduced some noise, but the thick plastic stems hurt my ears after 30 minutes, and they didn’t block wind noise as much as I hoped. That’s when I gave these Alpine MotoSafe Race earplugs a try — and I’m glad I did. I was skeptical that they’d really be much better, but I was wrong. These are not only the quietest plugs I’ve used so far, but also the most comfortable. The inner piece is made from softer material and is narrower than most, so it seals well without causing discomfort. With these in, my helmet on, and my Cardo running music, I can’t really hear much outside my comms — though I can still hear traffic around me enough to stay aware. The wind noise is dramatically reduced. It’s not perfectly silent, but it’s a huge improvement and makes long rides far more enjoyable. For the price, I’d absolutely buy them again.

They work well, especially with a helmet. Better than some pricier options.
I've tried other options (including some more expensive and "custom fit" versions) and been disappointed. Other versions may work well in other applications, but are not suitable for motorcycling because they don't interact well with a full face helmet. Nothing like taking the time to put something in your ear only to have it come loose after you put your helmet on, which renders them ineffective. These come with a nice case and installation/insertion tool. More importantly, they work well. I appreciate that they don't come dislodged when putting on my helmet (a problem with some other options). The noise reduction is effective, but doesn't inhibit discussion when stopped. I used them on a recent long distance ride and they were tolerable for many hours. I liked these so much I bought a second set. If you've been frustrated or disappointed with other options, give these a try.

Amazing purchase
These earplugs are a game-changer for serious riders. They reduce wind noise by at least 70% while preserving engine sound—dramatically improving ride quality and comfort on long rides. The real benefit shows up if you’re using helmet comms or Bluetooth headsets; the noise reduction significantly boosts output clarity. I can actually hear my music and conversations clearly. For S1000RR riders, this is an essential upgrade.

The best plugs I have found.
These plugs decrease wind noise to acceptable level. The feature that sets them apart is the knob on the outside. Much easier to get ahold of to remove the plugs.

Same Finish, but NOT the Same Fit
I have used Alpine MotoSafe for quite some time now. This is the first time I've used the Black "Race" plugs. While all of the Alpine MotoSafe plugs have the same common flaw, the little tab is so weak after 75 or so removals, that it snaps off, but the plugs are still solid, even without the little grabber stem. As I said, first time using the black plugs, and they seem way smaller than the white or red plugs. I was expecting the same fit, but these left a lot to be desired, feeling like they were going to fall out of my ear, and the worst part was the wind noise during the ride. It felt as if the wind was going right around the edges of the plug... and this in a fully covered modular helmet (LS2 Advant). They just didn't seem to protect my ears. The carrying case is small, which is nice, and it has a nice neck style strap.

UPDATED: Road test pros and cons
I was looking for good touring ear protection on my BMW r1250 with loud exhaust. I did a test of three different options, on the interstate going 75 miles an hour. I was looking for protection from exhaust noise, wind noise, convenience and consistency, and ability to hear music from my cardo pack talk. First, the Alpine race MotoGP ear plugs did well with protection from the motor/exhaust noise, but did not do well with protection from wind noise. They provided consistent protection and were relatively easy to insert properly. But as with all earplugs, they tend to work themselves out over a couple hours. My second option was BOSE active noise cancellation earbuds. Those did well with exhaust noise and wind noise but not as quite as well with the exhaust noise as the alpine. Nice thing about the earbuds is that they are very consistent and stay in place. My third option was foam ear plugs. Those did well with wind noise and exhaust noise if they were inserted correctly. However, I found that about 50% of the time I had to stop and reinsert them to get them inserted correctly. None of the solutions allowed for good listening to music at that speed. Music clarity increased as my speed decreased. Overall, I would give the Bose active noise cancellation earbuds my highest rating, because even though they didn't block the noise quite as well as some of the others they are consistent and they did block both wind and exhaust noise. UPDATE. After further testing and inserting much further into my ear canal, I found that these earbuds do a an excellent job of blocking both exhaust noise and wind noise. It just takes some practice to get them inserted correctly

Work very well, easy to use, comfortable
These ear plugs work great! I have been using foam ear plugs that claim to reduce the ambient noise by 32 db. The Alpine Motosafe ear plugs seem like they reduce the ambient noise more than the foam ear plugs. You do need to make sure the Alpines are inserted the correct distance into the ear canal for optimum noise reduction. The Alpines are easy to insert with the insertion tool. They are also very comfortable and do not make my ears sore after a long day.

Clear sound, proper noise reduction
Love my new ear plugs. They definitely help with noise reduction while riding. I can still hear clearly chatting with my friend thru the intercom and answering calls.

Great Ear Plugs!
These are the best ear plugs for motorcycle riding! A little finicky to install because you need to use the tool, but they are sure are comfy and quiet for long distance and high speed riding.
