Any tips on how to thicken it?** A: if it helps anyone out there, since this came directly from the company, which i appreciate (they respond competently&quickly), here's what the employee at Dr bronner's put for a response to my question about how many drops are in a bottle : not sure if any of this has changed so it's in your best interest to contact Dr bronners directly to verify as needed Although we do not have a drop count for our soaps, you can always pre-dilute our soaps. We do not recommend using a pump dispenser, sensor dispenser, or wall dispenser with our Pure-Castile Liquid Soaps as they can easily clog. We recommend keeping the soap in its original bottle and using just a drop or two for each handwashing. Our Sugar Soaps, on the other hand, do not encounter this problem, and even come with a pump dispenser. Our Pure-Castile Liquid Soaps do work well in foaming dispensers. Foaming dispensers “thicken” the soap with water and air. If you decide to use a foaming dispenser, make sure to dilute the soap at a ratio of 1 part soap to 3 parts water. This dilution doesn’t create the issues with clogging that undiluted soap would. Suggested ratio example: 8 oz. bottle = 2 oz. soap (¼ c.) soap and 6 oz. (¾ c.) water 12 oz. bottle = 3 oz. soap and 9 oz. water When using a foaming dispenser, we recommend diluting a portion that will be used up within 2 weeks to a month, since we do not add any harsh preservatives in our products that will allow them to last longer than 1 month after being diluted. Using distilled water will be more helpful, since hard water can cause natural soap separation. Should you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to let us know. separately, for the virus, I use regular soap so as to not take any chances. natural is good of course but maybe not right now as much, unless it's been proven to work just as good even with user error. the shelf life of the Dr bronner's castile used to be something like 3 years (unopened&undiluted) only(not sure about the specific batch/lot you have though). the batch code is printed on the packaging so if you take a picture & send it to them, try can probably ly tell you whether or not your container is within shelf life(assuming best case storage conditions, so you probably want to.factor that in accordingly as well) separately, do your own due diligence research:read about how if tea tree(different Dr bonner product) is below a certain percentage,then fungus/bacteria(??) can actually develop a resistance (and this is specifically for tea tree oil) and Dr bronner's years ago UNDILUTED(!) was at this exact percentage so I would have to use it full strength. not sure if they changed the formulation and added more tea tree oil to MEET/EXCEED(!) that percentage or higher AFTER(!) dilution (if they kept it the same, I would guess being an ethical company that we trust, they are probably starting to consider changing the packaging to warn the customer on the bottle packaging to at least warn the customer who doesn't know any better), unless this has been debunked. but letting you know just in case you happen to use it, if this hasn't been debunked, for your health & the health of your loved ones. thank you! take care! stay safe! ps whole foods where i.am started CONTACTLESS(!!!!!!) I let it run into my eyes to see how much it would sting, it's not tear proof but it only slightly irritates but then again I've gotten tear in my eyes to see if it really is, they all slightly sting, so it stings about the same as the tear proof ones. **Q: Is it water-based or oil based?** A: It's soaponified oil, which does not leave an oily residue, but rather bonds oils to itself, as a positive and negative ion will attract one another. This is the purest of soaps. I use on my infant and myself. **Q: Is this safe for a HE washing machine?** A: Yes! Laundry: 1/3—1/2 c. of soap for a large load in a normal washer.
