I wanted glass cause it's easier to clean and doesn't stain. The lid is shaped like the pitcher in a oxtagon so it's secure (doesn't fall out). Airtight?! No, but Whose turning any pitcher upside down when it's full of liquid? (What are these reviewers looking for?!) Walmart and other retailers are charging $27 dollars for this exact pitcher so this is a great deal at less then $10! While I would've liked a blue top (like my mom's) for this price I'll deal.
