- Lightweight, Comfortable, and Versatile Camping Chair!
I bought the Helinox Sunset Chair (Black, 3.4 lbs) to join my husband on camping trips, hiking excursions, and kayaking adventures, and it’s become my go-to chair for just about everything! My husband had an ultralight backpacking chair, but I wanted something with a high back to avoid squatting and to rest comfortably after a long day. This chair is perfect! At about 3 lbs, it’s not ideal for long backpacking hikes but is fantastic for day hikes, picnics, or casual outdoor outings. It packs up small, is easy to assemble and break down, and the sturdy material and frame feel built to last. The high back makes a huge difference for back support, and the side pockets are a nice touch for convenience. The quality is impressive, though it’s a bit pricey. If you take care of it, this chair will last for years. My husband loved it so much he claimed it, so I had to buy a second one for myself! Now all our friends are jealous of how comfortable and portable these chairs are. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a lightweight, high-quality outdoor chair!

Super comfy and very good quality feel.
Helinox is a top-notch brand for quality. This chair feels very quality built. It feels sturdy enough even for someone a little heavier. I've used this when I was about 270 pounds, and now I'm about 230 and fit and sit in this just fine. I like the high back, and I could just about take a nap in this chair. It has a side pouch that can be used as a cup holder, but is fairly minimal as this is meant for light weight. Might be a little heavy for serious hikers, so it's not for the extreme lightweight backpacking, but it's really handy for shorter trips or even just to carry anywhere you might want a chair. Bring it to go watch fireworks or something like that. I wouldn't recommend using it with an ultralight setup and hiking the Appalachian Trail or anything like that, but shorter backpack trips would still be fine and this provides some very comfortable seating. Great for sitting by the fire.

WOW solid update to the original well worth it
OK I also own other Helinox chairs I did a review comparing the REI to the helinox chair http://www.amazon.com/Big-Agnes-Helinox-Chair-Camp/dp/B007ZGOWZQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1426115083&sr=1 the one HUGE problem is my kids tried them and chances are I now have to buy 2 more :) sarcasm off :) did buy a 2nd for the wife we car camp but space and size are a huge concern for us I hated having 4 huge normal camp chairs also I love to rest my head my original post above I did show a quick pic of a mod I did to get a headrest that works on the original Helinox but this new design is so much better !!!! comparing to the original model you can see the pics comparing the two (sorry just quick cell phone pics) the legs are more solid and less flex (not that the original was unstable but it had some flex) the height is taller which does make getting out a touch easier and might put it closer to normal eating height but like the original its not as tall as a regular camp chair ! but they are superior IMHO for someone looking for a chair that wont take up a ton of room and are heavy and IMHO are actually more comfy than full size chairs ! the backrest at 6' tall I can rest my head in comfort the blue pillow did not come with mine ? so a pillow design is in the works for me :) a bit wider seating area in the front the rear part feels about the same what has not changed ! the poor size/design foot ends ? OK they need to offer a better foot design for soft ground the original I did a golf ball trick ! I have seen the small tennis balls but they attract sand and water etc... so something solid is needed IMHO on the original I used golf balls which worked very well quality stitching and better design in the corners etc... again just well made compared to other smaller camp chairs of this style I have seen on the market included a few pics one to see how the height has changed the other to try to show the wider part of the chair the side view to try to show how substantial the backrest is pack size compared to the original with my golf ball foot mod on the original why the bag is lumpy on the original :)

Amazing.
How can something be so light and small and yet provide a quality seating experience, not sure how but this chair fulfilled all of my needs. It's light, it's sturdy, easy to set up and take down and unlike some camp chairs actually goes back into the carrier bag. Amazing. Like so many people I've looked at this chair for over a year. I kept putting in my cart and then saving it for later but finally decided to take the plunge and buy it. Glad I did, hopefully the last camping chair I'll ever buy. A big plus is that unlike my previous heavy, bulky camp chair that never really fit back into the carrier bag I will actually use this because it's such a pleasure to use. like most things in life, you get what you pay for.

Good, but I prefer the One Highback
I purchased this chair and the Helinox One Highback (re). I found the One Highback to be more comfortable. The Sunset is slightly more reclined and therefore felt less supportive on my mid- back. Both chairs are lightweight, portable and quality made so from that standpoint you can’t go wrong. I’m 5’3” and the Sunset did seem slightly taller / higher back (tho not a significant difference), so perhaps that’s why the One Highback fit me better.

I love this chair
I'm not going to lie; I love this chair. Let me preface this review by saying that, while I bought the sunset chair for its portability, I was under no illusion that I'd be taking it backpacking for a week in the wilderness or anything. While it does fit in a backpack, it's still too heavy to justify bringing along when ounces count. With that said, however, it's still worth the purchase. I bought it because, outside of a few weeklong backpacking trips every year, I also spend a lot of time at parks and beaches. I wanted something that was a little bigger than the chair one (purchased awhile ago; would highly recommend) but still relatively compact so it would leave more room in the trunk of my car for other beach/park stuff. So, on to the chair itself. It sets up much like the chair one does; assemble the frame and slip the fabric on. Takes about a minute to set up, from bag to sitting, and maybe a minute and a half to break down and pack up again. The chair is very sturdy but still very, very comfortable; I've said in other reviews that I'm a pretty big guy, so finding something I can properly relax in is a tall order. My only (admittedly minor) gripe is the lack of arm rests, but they had design choices to make and helinox is all about portability, so I suppose the armrests had to go. It's still a comfortable chair; I spent several hours in it for a small picnic and then (when all the barbecued food had taken effect) proceeded to nap in it for about an hour more. Never felt cramped or uncomfortable at any time. Now to answer the question of the hour: is it worth the ridiculous price? I would say that I'm very happy to have bought it, yes. Other people might be perfectly happy with a 14 dollar folding chair from a department store, and that's fine. I wanted something light and portable that wouldn't sacrifice comfort, so I bought this instead. It fits in a backpack and when you're sitting down in it you'll see exactly where your money went right before you take a nap, because it really is that comfortable. So this, like all the other helinox stuff I've bought, gets a hearty recommendation from me because in this case you really do get what you pay for, and it's a chair you'll own and enjoy for a long time.

you need to sit in it to understand
I saw someone who had one of these and thought, "That looks really nice - I wonder what it feels like to sit in it?" Well, I sat in it and got my answer - splendid. I have used all sorts of camping chairs and stools from the 3-legged variety to the ones with arm-rests and coozies. The reality is, this is the absolutely most comfortable travel chair I have ever sat in. It envelopes you and puts you in a comfortable seated position. It is very stable. It is light weight. It is easy to set up. I got the "high back" with a full backrest, and highly recommend. Basically no travel/camp chair has a head rest. If you are only sitting in it for a short period of time, that is fine. But, if you plan on using it regularly and for extended periods of time... your neck will likely get tired and strained. As I am typing this review, I am in this chair. My head is back and resting on the back of the chair. I am quite comfortable. Also, the carrying bag can be stuffed with towels or clothes to provide additional support/a neck rest, which makes it even better. The chair is a bit expensive, but worth every penny. Don't buy some Chinese knock-off that just stole this idea and reverse engineered it. Get the real deal and support the people who decided to come up with a new and revolutionary travel/camp chair.

Great camp chair, extremely portable and comfortable
I needed a chair that was both exceptionally portable (needed to fit in a panier on my motorcycle), and comfortable (I'm old and I like nice things). This chair fits the bill spectacularly. It packs down well and is easily stored. When opened and set up (takes less than a minute), the seat is high enough to make getting into and out of the chair much easier with tired knees. I'm not a small fellow (~230 lbs), but this chair supports my weight with ease and I have no concerns about it collapsing or breaking under me. I debated the expense before purchasing, but consider it well worth it in hindsight. I will be purchasing more from Helinox both for myself and friends and family.

Strong, Lightweight chair.
This chair is lightweight, so allows it to be hauled around without extra weight. Comfortable for short periods of time. It is easy to assemble and break down and put it back in it's bag. I gave it 4 stars as it is expensive but if you have activities that warrant light weight then it is a balance.
