OAK is the best smoke.
The best OAK pellets I have found. Smooth mellow oak smoke flavor. The only smoke I use on beef. It is also great on pork, chicken and most steaky fish Salom, halibut, shark, shrimp. Hickory is ok. I think it has a bitter taste to it. Whereas OAK is much more mellow. It's hard to find OAK in most of the retailers here where I live. So I get it through Amazon and try to keep extra available.

Good Flavor with Lots of Smoke and Lots of Ash
I was using Traeger Oak pellets until they stopped making them. I've used Lumberjack and Bear Mountain since then. Bear Mountain provided the best smokey flavor out of those two, but also the most ash residue. Traeger pellets (all "flavors") leave very little ash. So little, that I only have to clean the smoker every 1-2 months (we use it several times a week). With Bear Mountain I am having to clean out the ash once a week. Though the smoke flavor is good, is it worth the frustration of having to clean the smoker more often?

Best pellets
I have also tried Lumberjack pellets which are also good, but harder to find in stores. My only negative of them was I thought they produced more ash. So I decided to try Bear Mountain and have not switched to another brand. They have some ash , but not a significant amount in my opinion. The flavor is very nice in all the meats I have smoked or grilled. Oak is awesome along with Cherry, Apple, and Hickory. I know some people like the wood blends, but they donโt bring you enough of the smoke profile that I desire in my food. You really canโt go wrong with Bear Mountain. I would highly recommend them.
