My 9-year-old wanted curly hair like Patrick Mahomes for Halloween, so we decided to try a perm. Our first attempt was with a different kit, and while it had everything I remembered (including the bad smell), it didn't include the curling papers. We bought some separately, but they were too thick, and the result was only semi-curly hair. Three weeks later, I purchased the Ogilvie Home Perm Kit. It brought back memories of my childhood home hair salon days, but this kit stood out for its easy-to-follow instructions. The process was straightforward, and the results were fantastic—my son's hair came out perfectly curly and looked great. I'm thrilled with the Ogilvie kit and will continue to buy it for any future perming needs. It has everything you need, and the quality is top-notch. I bought this product to do a diy reverse (straight perm) as my hair is naturally wavy. I recalled doing this once in my teen years and it going very well, and loving the results. But, I guess results and luck don't always repeat themselves. This product states it is safe for colored hair; however, upon application of this product, almost immediately my hair stated to frizz up. I hurried and rinsed it out right away (within the first 2 minutes), but the damage was already done. Upon rinsing, I felt my hair swell and the texture felt very strange. After getting out of the shower, I was scared to see the damage, and rightfully so. I gently started to comb my hair from the bottom up, with a wide tooth comb. To my dismay, large chunks of my hair began to come with it. A lot of my hair that didn't come out, coiled up, and became frizzy. I was horrified and felt so disappointed, dismayed, and shocked. The damage was nearly immediate from this product, and I have been desperately trying to regain my hairs integrity ever since. I would not recommend this product whatsoever. I had to cut my own hair, add some side bangs, have lost length, and have some short layers that broke off. I have spent both a lot of money and time buying products and researching how to heal my remaining hair. Thankfully, I had very thick, coarse (tough) hair or I might not have any left. I have been using Olaplex 3, have done one Aphogee treatment, am using oils and leave in conditioners in my hair. The Olaplex 3 has helped the most. In the future, I am switching to demi permanent color, and using a very low activator, so there's no lift taking place. Sadly, the only real cure has been to cut away the most damaged sections. My warning to you would be not to use this if you have ever done anything to your hair, and you don't have virgin hair- even then, I am not sure it is worth the risk. I have felt so disappointed and discouraged but am thankful for products like Olaplex 3. It has been one of the few things that makes my hair even somewhat manageable now.

It's an okay product. My hair takes perms easily, so I left the product in for the least amount of time suggested and still got some frizzing. The pre- and post-conditioning probably helped to minimize this though. I had noticed in another review, however, that others complained about the drip guard being missing from the box. I specifically reread the product description before purchasing and it said the product comes with a drip guard. The box that I received also said it contained a drip guard. It did not. So I just worked carefully and used a lot of towels to catch the drips. Whether I was able to do a work-around, though, is not relevant to the point that the box does not contain a drip guard even though the online description and the box description clearly state that it does.

I was a hairdresser many years ago, so I have used many different perms. I used this one for tinted hair on myself and I can honestly say it's one of the best perms I have ever used. The condition of my hair, even before I used the leave in conditioner felt really good, and the curls soft and bouncy. It's now going to be my regular perm. I can't recommend it enough.

La cosa che mi ha colpito di più è la durata: dopo più di tre mesi i ricci sono ancora ben visibili. Il kit è facile da usare e i risultati sono davvero professionali anche a casa.
