Changed the way I feel about my hair
I've been waiting to write a review about Toppik until I've used a few bottles to see how the product holds up in different weather and conditions. I absolutely love it. I have Alopecia and (bad) thinning on my crown. I wore a partial hairpiece for years, which looked great and did the trick. But for any of you ladies out there in the same position, you know what a human hairpiece means. It's expensive, so for me, I could only have two, and they were identical pieces. They were dyed to match my hair, which meant I had to color my hair exactly the same color for years. And the style never changed, short bob forever. Not to mention the maintenance, head forms in the bathroom, and having to replace the hairpieces when they wear out. I decided to give Toppik a try because I wanted to see if I could use it and feel comfortable with my own hair. To explain my level of thinning, I would never go out of the house without a hat or hairpiece. Ever. Once I started using Toppik, the hairpieces and head forms went into the closet and they haven't come back out! I love love love this stuff. I started out using Toppik with the spray applicator, which worked well for a while. But then I noticed the spray applicator wasn't working as well as it once had. I would pump once and have to wait forever for the air to refill the pumper and it would take a long time to cover my thinning areas using this method. So I finally popped the sprayer off and used the shake method. Works like a charm. Because I am thin all over my crown, I use the sharp end of a comb, start at one side of my head, slightly above my ear, and create a part to the back of my head. Shake on the Toppik from back to front (careful near your face! it can be messy). Repeat the process about half an inch apart all the way across my head. Once I'm done, I use a cotton ball to clean my face and hairline of any Toppik that has gotten out of control (especially check the nose and under your eyes). Quick check with a handheld mirror for coverage, and then I usually use some type of defrizz or smoother on my hair. When I put that on, I do end up with Toppik on my hands from rubbing my hair, no biggie. After that I use regular hairspray which seems to work well to lock the Toppik in place. I believe there is a product you can buy to do this, but I've never used it. Since I've started using Toppik I've grown my hair out. I haven't had long hair in about 10 years because I had to conform to the hairpiece, but not anymore! I can wear my hair wavy or straight again, when before I always had to blow-dry it straight to match the hairpiece. I love my hair again, which isn't something I thought I would ever be able to say. And there is a weird side effect of the Toppik for me. Normally if I wash my hair in the morning, and don't use Toppik, by the next morning, my hair is starting to get a little greasy, not a problem if I'm wearing a hat, but even before my hair loss, I washed my hair every day. When I use the Toppik, my hair looks awesome the second day! It ends up super full from the roots down and not oily at all. I can sometimes go three days without washing it, which would have seemed crazy to me before using this product. The best I can surmise is that the Toppik absorbs the oil my scalp is secreting?? Anyway, I don't really care, because it means I can get two, sometimes three great hair days out of one styling and application of the Toppik. So the downside? It is really messy. No matter how careful I am, I still end up with Toppik all over the sink and counter, and I use dark brown, so it really shows. As messy as it is, I really don't care. It could be ten times messier and I would still use it. Because until you've gone through the difficulty of losing your hair, you will never understand how amazing it feels to get compliments on your own real hair again!! I have been out in the rain with no problem, and worked out. While working out, when my head gets sweaty and I wipe it with a towel, there is Toppik on the towel. I just make sure to be careful. Have not gone swimming in it, and probably won't try. I've also used Great Hair Day powder and really liked it, but for the amount of coverage I now need, Toppik is the product for me. If you are on the fence, order the smallest size and try it. You can always send it back if it doesn't work for you, and it could change the way you feel about your hair!

An amazing product!!!
I am a skeptical person....so before ordering this I did a lot of research. The claims they made seemed legitimate so I decided that it couldnt hurt to buy it once and try it. I am in my mid-20s and have started to see some thin areas in the front of my hair line, sort of above my temples. It started on one side in my early 20s, then on both as time went on. You could only really notice if my hair was short. I am an actor, so when I decided to start doing films after being mostly a theater actor for so many years, I grew out my hair and used to slick it up...sort of like a modern James Dean pompadour in the front. The rest of my head is fairly thick but very thin in the front. I didn't notice how thin until I saw myself in one of the rough cuts of my first short film. I was so embarrassed. Luckily the film was never completed or released. I decided that before I do another film, I should find a product to help. Since I wasn't thinning at a rapid rate, I figured a "hiding" solution could help for the meantime. I came across Toppik and (after research) ordered a bottle. I tried it out and instantly saw how it was covering my thinning areas. After two uses, I ordered the spray applicator. This was crucial!! If you want to have more control over where you apply, make a bottle last much longer, and avoid spilling it all over the place, buy the spray applicator. A bottle can last me months!! I'm serious. So I style my hair with some Axe paste, push up the front, and then spray Toppik to the thin areas in the front of my head and instantly my scalp is no longer visible through my hair! You also can't even tell that I'm using any type of product. I would advice getting a shade darker than your natural hair as it tends to look lighter than you think. I've been using Toppik for over a year and have only ordered my second bottle. It holds all day long, unless you get your hair submerged in water. It will run on your fingers if you touch the areas immediately after applying it but it will not come off on your hands later in the day... if a female happens to run her hands through your hair, dont worry fellas. Even if you go to sleep and wake the next day, it's still there! Only after you shower or wash your hair will it come out. It will rinse off easily with water too. It doesnt make your hair look or feel nasty. If you apply a lot and look really closely, you can see the little fibers attached to your hair fibers but only if you really look for it. I've never told anyone I know that I use a product and no one has ever commented on it, such as "what's in your hair?" In fact, I've been told "you have great hair." I simply smile and say "Thank you!" This product has truly made a huge impact on me. My hair looks great on camera...it looks thick and full. I've recently decided to try a monodoxil regime in order to reverse or slow-down the thinning process. Luckily for me it is thinning slow but I imagine but my mid-30s I may have more apparent baldness. I have leading man looks and can't afford to be balding. Take it from me, buy this product! It works wonders. Buy the spray applicator too. I am a customer for life or at least until my thinning worsens.

Works well when applied correctly, just set expectations on limitations
Been using Toppik for a while now and it has become a regular part of my morning routine. I have some thinning around the temples and crown, and this product genuinely makes a noticeable difference. When applied correctly and paired with the fiber hold spray, my hair looks significantly fuller in just a couple of minutes. The dark brown shade I ordered matches my hair well with no obvious streaking or color mismatch. Application takes a little practice to get right. Too much and it looks unnatural, too little and you are not getting the full effect. But once you get the hang of how much to shake out and where to apply it, you can get results that genuinely fool people. I have had no comments about my hair looking different or artificial, which is the best possible outcome. The main downsides are that it does come off on pillowcases and if you get caught in the rain without setting spray, it will shed. Also, heavy sweating at the gym can cause it to migrate. These are limitations worth knowing going in. That said, for normal daily wear in an office or social setting, it holds up well and gives you a confidence boost that is hard to put a price on. Solid product that delivers on what it promises.

Awesome product!
Wow. This stuff is awesome. I've always thought it was too expensive compared to other brands but boy is it worth it. It's far less messy than other brands, not just powder that flies everywhere and makes a big mess, great coverage with less product and it looks natural - actually like hair. And it sticks to the hair and scalp better. This is my new go to - love it. The hairline optimizer is also superior to the other brands - makes the hairline look a lot more natural.

Help! From an Old Lady With Bald Spots
Not so good! I have used this for years but now it's not adhering (staying) on my scalp, rubs off on my clothes, hat, pillowcase (=cough, cough= Am I inhaling cancer? ), and at the front, gets on my glasses when I push them up, and then makes stains on either side of my nose, which is not funny because I use Dark Brown, and I never know about the dark stripes until people start looking at me funny. - What am I to do? Has the company, which has great success with their wonderful product, fudged on the quality of Toppix after all of these years? I have two options, because I've tried other products, and they weren't good. - Be the old lady with the bald spots in front of you in the grocery store or die of respiratory distress or worse.

Filled hairline, pretty natural
I've always had a high hairline, but after three rounds of post-partum hair loss and a decade of wearing my hair up in mom buns, I was getting a little sparser around my widow's peak than I used to be. I bought the smallest bottle of Toppik to experiment with and came back for a larger one after I'd tried it for a few days. It's not perfect, but I like it a lot. Although it doesn't effectively disguise where my hairline actually starts, it does do a pretty good job filling things in so my existing hair looks thicker. I use it through my part from widow's peak to crown, and very lightly through the baby hairs above my temples if I have my hair pulled back. From a normal speaking distance, it looks pretty natural. You probably wouldn't notice unless you inspected my scalp, and even then it's a fairly subtle effect, more airbrush than spraypaint, as long as I go light and pat it in a bit. I have very light skin and very dark hair (and subsequently use very dark fibers), so the contrast is stark if I'm not careful. The comb helps too, but any other similarly shaped edge (or even your hand) works just as well with a little practice. It doesn't make a mess unless I go nuts and fling it around, but I do have to shield my forehead or dust it off after I apply, the same as when I use tinted dry shampoo. So far I haven't needed to do any on-the-go touch-ups, but I figured better safe than sorry and stuck the travel size in my purse. You can open the jar to refill it with fibers from the more cost-effective larger sizes (or mix colors, if you need to), which is really nice. I shampoo about every other day and, at least in the short time I've been using it, it hasn't come off on my white pillowcase at night. It also provides pretty much the same amount of coverage on day two or even three if I don't wash it out or poke at it too much, and that makes the pricetag a little easier to stomach. I don't know how long a bottle will last, but I don't suspect I'll need to buy it more than seasonally. In terms of color, dark brown is truly very dark. It works well on me, and my hair is nearly black. For another reference point, it's at least a shade darker than Batiste's tinted dry shampoo in Divine Dark, which is a bit lighter than my hair and has been my go-to for filling my part for a while now. Using the two together gives me the oil-absorbing benefits of the dry shampoo, the stronger scalp disguising of the Toppik, and makes it so I don't have to use as much of either product as if I'd used one alone. I like the combination quite a bit.

Please make it sweat proof, water resistant spray, or smudge proof.
This has literally changed my life. The only thing I do not like is if I lay down or brush my head against anything it leaves horrible black stains on whatever it touches. Even with the holding spray it still wipes off. If you sweat it'll come off. If I run my hand through my hair to fix it it'll all be on my hands. It would be great if there was a water proof spray! Other than that it's amazing.

Very surprised. Looks like real hair.
Very surprised. I'm very skeptical about 'miracle' products, but because i'm very concerned about my hair loss, which is just inevitable there's is not cure, i just had to give this product a try. I'm against drugs, and because once you start taking those hair loss treatment medications you can't quit them otherwise you'll loose even more hair, so i said i was not going to risk it and screw it even more. I don't really have the money right now for hair surgery (which i will like to do later) so i said i'll just give it a try. If it didn't work i would just return it or trash it. Is basically a gamble. So i got it real quick and tried it out as soon i opened the little package bag, just to know if i should return it right there. As soon i sprinkled it over my head and combed it I WAS IMPRESSED. It really looks like real hair no kidding. Like i said i'm a very skeptical person so I just couldn't believe it. It really works as described. I have very thin hair and the top of my head can be seen. But i have enough thin hair for Toppik to do its job. I feel more confident now. I'm still very worried for my hair because i'm loosing it, but at least Toppki can help me looking better and younger for now. It comes off with easy with shampoo. ( i shower twice a day but i just shampoo it at night to take it off. Too much shampoo on your hair can me harmful). I really recommend it. It doesn't work for everybody, you need to have enough hair over the bald spot to cover it, otherwise it will just look like a dark power or dirt on your head. But still guys, you are already losing your hair, you have nothing more important to loose. If it doesn't work for you you'll just lose money, that you'll get back. You are worth more than that. Just give it a try. I hope my review can help you and i hope it works for you also.

Color is almost offkey everytime with black and all the other colors including this, I think I might be the problem here or they need a better range of colors. It's not a solution for balding, Could buy you some time, I recommend rosemary oil. AS for users like me using it to fill hair on your hair parting, It's good to use- Just remember to give your scalp a break

WOW so impressed! I have a happy husband!
Wow! My husband is almost 30 and suffers with a balding crown which he hates! But refuses to shave the rest of his hair off just yet! We’ve never used anything like this before - just came today... and oh my god it’s not perfect but wow! The difference is amazing especially if you had smaller areas to cover! On the first application we are so impressed and with a bit of practise this is going to be fab! He’s beaming from ear to ear at the results and was actually a bit emotional as it’s something that’s always knocked him. Defo try the sample size first but 3g is a tiny pot! I’ve just seen other sites selling bigger pots for the same price!
