Gardirect Natural Bluebird House, 5.7’’ x 4.7’’ x 5.1’’

This is not a bluebird house. I'll still use it in hopes that other birds nest in it, but according to my research (from bluebird authorities):"These birds (house wrens and starlings) are exotic to the United States and will displace most cavity nesting birds during nesting season. ... Do not equip a bluebird nesting box with a perch. Bluebirds do not need perches; however, nest competitors such as house wrens and house sparrows will use perches to gain access to a box."

Before I ordered this product I asked if it could be opened to be cleaned. I was told yes. It arrived today and there is absolutely no way (short of taking it apart) to open this. Seems to be well put together.

After doing some research I found that this was not a good bluebird house. It should not have a perch and it should have a hinged wall to allow one to clean the interior after each use by birds. The door had not been sanded and had splinters. It is quite attractive as garden decor but it isn't a good bird house.

Compared to my existing blue bird houses its very attractive but it is just too small. This would look ok screwed to a fence in a small back yard and might be better suited to a wren than a blue bird.

The house is missed labeled for a bluebird. Minimum hole size needs to be 1.5-2.0 for a bluebird to fit in and it needs to be 9” deep.Hole is 1.25 and 4.5” deep. There are also no ventilation holes.

Nothing has built in it so far been 8 months

I had this drop shipped to my mom. She has a fence with many birdhouses attached. It looks super cute on the fence and she loves it.I'm happy with my purchase.
