**Q: What is the specific quality difference between this model and the other (pdi-dic)? i am trying to make an educated purchase.**
A: This model comes from Maharaja Brand and is manufactured in Delhi. The modek (PDI-DIC) comes from MKS in Kolkata

**Q: Is there a frequent tuning?**
A: Not sure if there's a frequent tuning, but I found C to be the easiest. The Tanpura strings (starting from the bass/edge of the box) CccG, and I started on the Swarmandal at g, and hitting most of the C scale notes up from there, and repeating until I ran out of strings (I was afraid of breaking strings - this works very well), doubling some C and G notes, and sometimes I make it Major with an E, and sometimes Minor with an Eb, and sometimes both (m3rd in the lower strings M3rd in the higher strings); I think I threw in a Maj7th (B note) and added 9th (D note) - it really depends on the notes you or someone will sing or play along... Have fun with it and feel free to experiment, or triple 1sts, 3rds and/or 5ths: I think D tuning would be about as easy... I'm a lefty, so I play the Tanpura part w/my right hand, as it's meant to be played, but use a thumb and finger picks (Banjo style) for the Swarmandal, as opposed to a flatpick, so I can get a lot of mojo out of it, and because I'm used to playing guitar w/my left hand in that fashion. Weird, but pretty cool...
