​I took a chance on the Monster Boomerang Neckband, and after testing several different styles of wearable audio, these have finally checked almost every box for me. If you’re looking for a way to enjoy music, podcasts, or calls without the discomfort of earbuds or the "sweaty ear" fatigue of over-ear headphones, these are a fantastic middle ground. ​Design & Build Quality ​Premium Feel: These feel solidly built right out of the box. The gold accents give them a high-end flair without being gaudy. ​Extreme Comfort: They lay flat and are so comfortable that you actually forget you're wearing them after a while. ​Intuitive Controls: Pairing was fast and simple. The buttons are slightly raised and well-spaced, making one-handed volume adjustments and pausing easy once you build the muscle memory. While I wish the buttons were even more pronounced, they are perfectly adequate for daily use. ​The "Frequently Returned" Mystery ​I noticed these were flagged as a frequently returned item, which gave me pause. However, after using them, I suspect the returns aren't due to quality, but rather user expectations: ​Context Matters: These are external speakers. They aren't for planes, trains, or quiet offices where you'll annoy others. They are perfect for the gym, gardening, or working around the house where you want to stay aware of your surroundings. ​Sound Trade-offs: If you are an audiophile looking for booming bass, these won't replace high-end buds. But for everyone else, the sound quality and call clarity are awesome. There is adequate bass, and the trade-off for comfort and situational awareness is well worth it. ​Reliability ​There is no immediate indication that these will fail due to build quality—they feel very sturdy. That said, I did opt for the Amazon product warranty just for peace of mind since I'll be wearing them during active tasks. ​Bottom Line: If you dislike the feeling of things in or over your ears and didn't care for the fit of bone-conducting headsets, these are the winner. They deliver great sound while letting you stay connected to the world around you.

These have been a godsend for my mother! Being in a nursing home, it can be hard to hear her movies/shows on her kindle. Headphones that are heavy or earbuds that hurt her ears or would easily be dropped and lost, were NOT an option! I searched for “neck speakers” and found several, but I wanted something that had great sound quality, great reviews and good charging life. I’ve owned Monster speakers beforehand, so I knew the brand was good. Man, what a lifesaver they've been!!! Got them for her for Christmas, and she LOVES them!!! Worth every single penny! The life on them is great, easy to BT to her Kindle and lightweight enough to not bother her neck. What a great find!

I bought these not knowing if I would like them or not. I liked the idea of nothing in or on my ears, but would the sound be good and loud enough. And my answer so far...they are loud enough and the quality is good. Now, others will hear your music or conversations if they are close, though I must admit that the music while being loud to me does not seem to travel very far. Not sure how this even works. But it does. I have used for both music and phone and worked well. The microphone others said was nice and clear even though it is not right by your mouth. These will be my go to way to make phone calls in the car. I will also use them when I need a little more volume for music or TVs and there are not too many others around. If you work out by yourself at home, they might work for that though I have not tried it. Finally they are very comfortable to wear.

Excellent neck speaker! I like that's its USB C. It has long battery life, and is very light and comfortable to wear. I use this in the office, working from home, chores around the house... its actually super awesome for chores around the house. In the office, I keep it on low and my colleagues are unable to hear the audio from the neck speaker. Its great because I can have a conversation in the office, and hear my music, without bothering anyone else.

The petite monster really feels like having lightweight speakers on your shoulders - which is to say, it is not nearly as immersive as proper headphones, but still really nice. They are bluetooth only, though, so there is the unavaoidable 200 ms or so latency that strictly excludes these speakers from use cases like competitive gaming or video editing. Physical experience --- It's very light but a tad solid. The build is very sturdy, and I have no fear of breaking it by accident (I still wouldn't let an overly curious cat push it off the table, though). As a rather bony person (and testing in the summer), I can wear this for hours with only slight discomfort - much better than trying to wear my headphones for the same amount of time. However, having a sweater on makes it feel much more comfortable (but something larger like a coat will make it fall off your back). This model is called "petite," but it fits just fine even with my winter coat on. The positioning on your shoulders/neck doesn't seem to affect the sound much, so small people like myself have no issue either (turning the speakers around does have a big difference, though, so make sure it's oriented correctly). I have short hair, so I don't know how it will feel for long-haired people. - When the speakers are playing something moderately loud, you can sometimes feel a little bit of rumble in your shoulders. This is not surprising, but some people may be bothered by it. Battery life --- I tested closely only once with a stopwatch, and the trial was after a few full charges/discharges soon after arrival. The speakers lasted 9 hours, and it gave me a "battery low" warning at 8.5 hours. The entire test run was at 25% speaker volume, though most of the time the actual audio I was listening to was much lower than that. This battery life matches several other reviews. I have not explicitly tested recharging time. - Additionally, the charging cable is extremely short, and opening the charging port on the speakers is oddly difficult (and I have small fingers). If your desk is messy or you need to use a wall outlet, charging the speaker will be a little uncomfortable. Luckily, I have a different long USB-C cable. Surprisingly, you can charge and use the speakers at the same time somewhat comfortably, though the speakers will gradually turn around your neck accidentally since you will have a cable sticking into your shoulder. - Some reviews mention an auto shutoff feature. For one of my PCs, it never shuts off, but for the other (which I only tested once) it shut off within a few minutes by itself. Bass --- It is indeed weak. I couldn't think of a proper rigorous test, but in comparing several different speakers/headphones that I have, it appears to me that frequencies start falling off hard at about 90-100 Hz. This is a dealbreaker for many people. Audio quality --- As a moderate audiophile, I think the frequency response is pretty good (besides the aforementioned bass). However, I don't think it's worth $100+ (I got it on sale for $60, which matches the value much better in my opinion). The apparent quality has an extra factor, though. Remember, these are just speakers sitting on your shoulders, so headphones will beat them at the same price. On the other hand, they are much better on average than desk speakers (for low volumes, at least) because they are closer to your ears, allowing you to hear higher frequencies as they are supposed to sound. - If your speakers sound warbly and wacky, see the mic section at the bottom. Stereo separation and surround sound --- The speakers separate L/R stereo very well. A lot of computers nowadays have surround sound emulators on by default, though, so I'm not sure if this matters to many people. I used SteelSeries GG to see how they feel with these speakers. Enabling "spatial audio" with "speaker" mode sounds and feels very cool, but this is necessarily at a significant audio quality cost since frequencies become muddied. This will be a matter of personal taste and use case, but it's worth a try just for fun. Sound privacy --- There's not much, which could be another dealbreaker. I tested these speakers against my current cheap forward facing desk speakers. In my tests, I was sitting at my desk and facing a door into the hallway. I had the desk speakers facing towards me at a screen-distance away, and playing at the same apparent volume as the neck speakers in my seat. The volume was on the quiet side for casual long-term listening (if that makes any sense to you). In this setup, the sound from the desk speakers disappeared at around 12-15 feet down the hallway, whereas the neck speakers were a foot or two shorter. Presumably the difference would be more dramatic if I tested behind myself or to the side, but I hadn't thought to do that during testing. Mic --- When I first paired the speakers with my computer, the audio quality was shot. Eventually, I figured out that these speakers register themselves in Windows as "Headset" and "Headphones" versions, and having the wrong setup produces a garbled sound and an inactive mic. Windows being Windows, you might occasionally get issues with the wrong version being the "Default Device" all of a sudden. The quality is alright when it's working properly.

I bought these for my daughter. They were the only type she was allowed to wear for her summer job. She seems like like it. It keeps her entertained and she can still hear and be aware of her enviroment.

First thing I will say about these is that they are essentially speakers on your neck so people around you will hear what you are listening to. That being said, I usually like to use these at home for gaming and music. I do not have to use my speakers and I can walk away from my computer and still be able to hear the music or video playing through these. I have liked most monster products so I decided to try these out as I wanted to use my speakers less to try and save some power. First I will talk about the material. I was very in love with how it feels. It is a silicone feel at the back of the neck but it does fit for my neck comfortably. It is more front heavy as that is where the hardware mostly is. The speakers are protected pretty well to reduce interference while also being solid so you do not have to worry about it being easily punctured. Dust and hard can build up on it but it is easy to brush off. The headphone cannot really be adjusted too much even with the back piece being flexible but it fits for the most part. The controls are on the right side (if you are wearing it). In order to control the sound you need to press + or - while changing tracks you would need to press and circle button twice or three times to depending on the direction you want to change the track. Pairing is pretty simple to just press and hold the play button until it flashes and then you just find the device on you device and connect. The buttons feel solid and have a nice click to them. For the most part, the instructions are pretty clear in helping and simple to follow. It also charged by type c and there is a small flap at the underside of the headset in order to plug in the cable. It can be a bit challenging to open the plug as the material stays put pretty well. The overall sound quality is pretty nice. Be aware that since you do not have this in your ear people will be able to hear your music. On to the microphone on this headset. For the most part, it was actually really clear and I could talk on the phone while walking or answer my calls in the car without having any issues. This thing does not irritate the skin but again this is front heavy. The tips are not magnetize so they do not stick together (I thought they did but they just come together do the weight). This product overall is a good buy if you are okay with playing your music and such out loud. I think it really helps in immersion into VR or gaming. Be warned this is only water resistant and should NOT be taken into swimming and such. The battery life lasted me up to 5 hours before I need to recharge the device. It does vary based on connection and how loud you are playing the music. Only thing I will say about this is that it is front heavy so it puts a bit of pressure on the back of your neck and the metal in the front is prone to scratching. Other than that great sound, clear microphone, good immersion.
