Q: What is the best size to get for making medium size cookies?

That depends on what you consider "medium size". If you are talking 2 to 2 1/2 inches (5 to 6.5 cm) than I would recommend the medium sized scoop. Adjust this recommendation to small or large if your "medium" varies from this one way or the other. Another factor in this is how dense your cookie mix is. If you thin out your mix, it will spread out more, but a denser mix (and therefore a thicker cookie) will not spread out as much when you bake it. I like to bake oatmeal raisin cookies that could be a full meal in themselves. They end up being approximately 4 inches (10 cm) in diameter and about 1 inch thick. In this case even the large scoop is heeped with cookie mix to satisfy my requirements.
