GartenKraft XW-225S Retractable Garden Hose Reel, 1/2" x 75'

First the pros. It's really well designed. The installation is well thought out with a guide built into the hanger so just drill four holes and fasten four screws, installation was very easy. It has a quick disconnect connection that is also nice. The retraction is strong and pulls the hose all the way back even with all the hose out. It has a guide that rolls the hose so it does not get clumped up on one side of the spindle. The included spray nozzle is has all the features and ergonomics of similar nozzles that cost about $18 so overall a great value on this purchase. Very pleased. Cons: the hose is very pliable so it winds up easily - this is something I'll keep an eye on because if it gets stiff over time the retract feature my not work so well.

Got the delivery yesterday, opened it today and thought - crap a quack connector for the faucet to unit?!?!? WTF? Why would you do that? I then thought, "oh well, I wont be disconnecting it regardless and went out to mount the unit. Mounting is easy as expected, HOWEVER the "quick connector" is definitely flawed design just as i feared at opening the box. I can not keep it connected, it wont stay connected, after 15 minutes of messing with it, I got it to connect BUT even when connected to the unit it leaks like a faucet. Unless the manufacturer sends me a new connector hose IMMEDIATELY - which I am not even certain its the female end, it could be the nipple that is part of the unit, I will be returning this by end of next week.. Ironically I have other retractable hose reels - not of this manufacturer - and have no problem with them. There is ZERO reason to have a quick connector set up for this unit. I blame myself for not researching this better, I would NEVER have purchased had I noticed the quick connector... shame on you GartenKraft. Three year warranty? I would settle for a functional unit.**** UPDATE **** I received a new boxed unit - shipped to me - free of charge - last Monday. Hooked it up without a problem. The hose reel works great. I can not say enough good things about this company as they truly stand behind their product. I WILL be purchasing another unit from them in the near future. I purchased this item on June 28 and just installed it today. The quality seems very good and I would be totally satisfied but for one small issue.I was able to solidly connect the Leader Hose to the reel and my water supply. However, it still has a very small continuous drip (see photo) that is coming from where the Leader Hose is connected to the Hose Connector. After numerous attempts at reseating the connection, I have been unable to stop the leak. I have checked all the rubber washers and they appear to be good.There must be an internal crack in the Connector somewhere. Who can I contact to get a new Leader Hose to remedy this problem?Thank you.

Great product. I loved it so much in the three months of usage in the backyard, and bought another unit for my front yard. Easy installation, smooth retraction and quality hose.There was a moment of frustration when it seemed leaking badly at the quick connector. After reading seller's comment to similar problem, I fixed it in 5 second (literally just a twist). It turns out it's not fully assembled for some reason and requires a simple twist to be tightly sealed. So many users got frustrated by this. Almost all 1 star reviews are from this exact problem. Fortunately, once you read it, it's just such an easy fix.

Had the 50' gardena. bought this 75'. cheaper and better.After almost three years the short connecting hose broke. They answered my email in an hour or so with an apology and fedexed me a replacement i got three days later.

I bought it last week. Unfortunately I did not get a chance to try it until today. It does not work as expected. When I turn on the water, it leaks from the back badly. Looks like there is no way for the connector to be properly seated.This does look like a design flaw.

We LOVE these Garden Hoses. We bought 2 of them... we love them that much. We highly recommend them!

I should have paid attention to the other reviews. The first time I hooked this up, the cheap plastic quick connect will not connect decently and leaks more water than comes out of the hose. Now I play the waiting game to see how long it takes to fix this problem.
