Kitchen + Home Food Safety Holder for Any Mandolin Slicer or Grater

I needed a better Food Holder than the one provided with my new mandolin. When I received it it looked a bit clumsy but I was quickly & happily surprised !!! It was very comfortable & ergonomically designed. The vegetables I used spring onions & cucumbers fit solidly on the metal spikes & yet no vegetable was wasted. It sliced right to the bottom & I used it on the thinnest slicing level. It has a nice wide & deep finger grip so your fingers are protected from the blade!! Did I spend a little more for this device, yes I did but it was worth every penny!! Many years ago I sliced my right index finger OFF to the first knuckle & thanks to my husbands quick thinking & a very talented plastic hand surgeon it was reattached & full function after a year of rehab. So believe me, Safety is of the most importance. 10 STARS!!!

Safe and does the job

I had a mandolin, but I hated the holder that came with it so much that I wanted to buy a new mandolin. Every mandolin review I read says the same thing: the holder isn’t good. Rather than buy a new mandolin, I bought this holder instead and it’s exactly what was needed. So don’t blame your mandolin, throw away the holder that came with it, and get this one instead. It’s got good, long prongs, and the button allows you to really get a good grip on the food. (I use it for onions.) plus, the sides are big and wide so your entire hand is protected. 6 stars!

It does its job. However, as I got this for my workplace (a restaurant) it fell apart pretty quickly in about a month. Some of that is due to rough handling in a fast paced environment, yes, but pegs start coming out and the plunger at the top starts to break very easy. It is easy to clean and has kept my hands safe, but with how quickly it falls apart, I recommend just looking elsewhere, unfortunately

If you have a handheld mandoline or a narrow food slicer than this might be too big. It is made for a bigger food slicers. Other than the size I have no complaints. I just don't use it much because my slicers are narrow. When I say narrow I mean 3 to 4 inches width. If your slicer is wider than 4 inches than this may be perfect for you. You can still use on smaller slicers but it kinda of chunky.

It’s large to protect your fingers and the prongs work well to hold veggie in place and to push it all the way down so it slices the whole thing! Easy too. It didn’t work so well grating hard cheese or sweet potatoes (but they are harder to grate anyway) but was excellent slicing zucchini, onions and potatoes leaving nothing behind.

Too large, so it doesn't work well with my conic shaped hand-held grater. Even a smaller softer potato like Yukon Gold, did not attach well because the tines are not sharpened. They have a flat vs pointed ends, hard to attach to any hard veggie or fruit. Because of that potato would fall off easily. I found the softer potatoes were easier to slide on my Mandolin with my fingers. When I did get it fixed to the device, it did not seem to save the potato with the push out action. The tines hit the grater and popped up my insert grater blade, so I had to reseat it. Again, I had to use my fingers and risk scraping them to finish up the work. This is about a worthless a device as I can imagine for the intended purpose. Maybe it would work with apples, or tomatoes, but for doing harder fruits and veggies, it's a waste to even try. Not Recommended at all, save your money, it won't save your fingers!
