Kingston SSDNow A400 480GB Internal Solid State Drive (SA400S37/480GIN)

Kingston is a popular electronic storage company and with a bit of research on SSD, I cam to finalize this over Seagate and green WD SSD's as this is faster than them. PRO ----- 1. It's faster than an HDD and it makes great use for data-heavy apps like Video Editing, 3D Modeling and Games, as they load faster and save faster. 2. Read speed is about four times higher than an HDD and importantly write speed is significantly higher in real world speed, win10 loaded in about 9secs and Blender in about 3secs. Video editor requires your more SSD space but this SSD worked fast for small edits. 3. It's lightweight as any SSD and felt easy to install, it is electronic storage meant I just attached connectors and left hand over the HDD without fastening on the desktop cabinet. 4. I have added another Kingston SSD on a mini laptop with atom processor and it makes that laptop felt like an i3 based processor in startup and browser usage in general. A great drive for system startup and few packages only with 240GB as limit. CONS ------ None

This is DRAM-less ssd hence the performance is poor in random 4kib compared to more expensive Kingston uv500 and Samsung SSDs. It's get worse once it's starts filling up so don't expect incredible speeds. But then again at this price this is most affordable SSD you will get. If your laptop has hard drive then any cheap SSD will be great improvement to boot up time and game loading time. But few points need to be consider. 1. 120gb is so little and so slow for windows OS so i recommend atleast 240gb. 2. If you can afford, buy DRAM SSD, it give huge boost to speed and longevity. Eg. Samsung evo, Kingston uv500, wd blue. 3. Mostly SSD product description tell nothing about DRAM hence you have to search before buying. 4. For cheap price, DRAM-less SSD is good to go but keep in mind that they wear out pretty quickly and performance is very low compared to DRAM SSD. 5. When using SSD, certain settings in windows OS need to be changed for better performance and longevity so keep in mind that. 6. SSD writes are limited so we have to choose wisely which SSD to buy.

This ssd is extremely fast. I replaced it with my laptop 5400rpm hdd. Sony vaio vpceh35en. Now my laptop is as fast as new ThinkPad or Apple laptops, though my processor is 2nd gen i3 with 2 cores, 2.3ghz. After putting this ssd my laptop boot time reduced and now it boots within a few seconds, white previously it used to take more than 2 minutes. Any large softwares like Photoshop cs6, premier pro cs6, Illustrator cs6, Eclipse, Android Studio, Adobe pdf, Chrome browser, Firefox, Opera, Word,Excel, PowerPoint, etc fully within max 3-5sec, which previously used to take almost a minute to launch specially after boot. Write speed has also increase but I have not measured yet so cannot give any opinion. Even my battery backup increased so much. Previously while booting the laptop battery reduces to 7%-8% but now it reduces only 1% -2%. It's because ssd has no physical moving parts while hdd has small motor which makes the disc rotate. In ssd all the data are always ready to use but in hdd it has to search the data throughout the disc by rotating it which results slowness. The ssd is very light in weight compared to the hdd. But my product came to my with a torned packed. Shame on you appario retail. Another point is that I am using it on Windows 7, if you use this on Windows 10 then you can more faster boot time and faster app launch time because Windows 10 is a very optimized OS compare to Windows 7 and MacOs. If you have a good processor and high speed ram with Windows 10 then I can assure you that using this ssd you laptop or PC will run many times faster than Macbook pro. Though MacBook pro has m.2 nvme ssd but Windows 10 is more optimized.
