Does not seal - impossible to open
Poor Design. When this thing reaches the top of the pool it instantly fills with air. When it is full of leaves, it takes major tools to loosen the top. Very disappointed.

Update to -- So far so good or just as good as the more expensive leaf trap
We have had this leaf trap canister in our newly renovated with pebble tec swimming pool for approximately one month. In connection with the Kreepy Krauly, it collects everything the more expensive model we had previously (which broke after 2 years) just as well as that more expensive model. We are happy with it so far.January 2014 - update: The leaf trap canister is still going strong. We have a large mulberry tree right outside the fence where our pool is (which loses its leaves in the fall) and the leaf trap canister has had no problems keeping up with collecting all the leaves that end up in the pool. Couldn't be more pleased with this purchase and the price was right too!

Shipped quickly but not packed well.
I'm glad this arrived with no problems. It came in the retail box, the very thin store box. They only taped the ends shut and stuck a label on it. Fortunately I don't see any cracks in the plastic. I'm glad UPS did not stack heavy items on it or toes it. I will post a photo I took of it when it arrived if I can add it later.

Moe work than expected
I use this with a generic Kreepy Krauly type device. It stays on the surface because it always retains some air in the canister. This tends to change the direction of the vacuum. The lid is hard to take off (yes I pushed the release tab), especially when wet. So, to me it is marginally better than pulling the pump debris catcher.

Easy return, leaf bag too small.
This would have been perfect, but the inside leaf bag was much smaller (about half the size) than the almost identical one that I was replacing. We returned it without any difficulty, thank you.

Simple idea, hard to open
Used for about a month, very hard to open while in the pool so we took it out. We wanted to prevent clogs in the underground pipes to the pump and filter. Only issue is you have to wrestle the top off and I'm a pretty strong man with no leverage issues so I can imagine smaller frames would have an issue. Tried o ring lube, but the design has mesh around it causing more friction. In the first 5 weeks and I heard a pop from the plastic handle pertruding from the surface.

Cheap and acts like it
It is inexpensive but poorly made. Taking the top off to remove collected leaves takes a hammer to loosen. The locking tab is poorly designed, almost takes two people to work. I have used pool/spa lube to make it easier to screw off, doesn't help. Next time I will buy a more expensive, better model with a top that is easier to remove.
