I would say that this wouldn’t be worth it for just one or two doors but I had 7 doors to change so 21 hinges. Took me about 25 minutes to set it up, (used one of the old doors to practice) but from then on it took about two minutes to do the three hinges on each door including the clamping up set up. The little corner chisel device was also a great time saver, easy to line up, one whack with a mallet and the rounded router corners were instantly square. The hinges look perfect. My experience with the fixture is very good, it is well made with the cast body giving good stability to the setup, and the clamps for attaching to wood are very effective. The guide plates are flat and straight and work very well. I took the time to scribe a line on the top of the cast plate to use for alignment with the centre mark on the timber. This is very helpful for overall accuracy of the joints. When setting up you need to take time to ensure the guide plates are square and parallel for the best results. The only improvement I have made is to swap out the m6 bolts that clamp the guide plates and replace them with star knobs, also bought on desertcart. I would recommend this fixture as it is both accurate and good value for money.

**Q: What is the spring loaded item for, and how is it used?**
A: It is a corner cutter to give you a square corner, as using the router bit will cut the hinge/ latch opening with rounded edges. 
There are two edges on the bottom of the cutter, place it in each corner and hammer down on the spring loaded bar to make the cut.  Practice on an old door or piece of timber if you are unsure. Tbh I don't use it as they're not overly reliable. I use traditional chisel method to cut the corners out.

**Q: what is included?  not clear to me if it includes the corner punch.... I am guessing it doesn't.....**
A: Everything in the picture was included. I wasn’t sure what the little yellow brush was for though.

**Q: Will this jig work with a round base on a makita palm router/trimmer?**
A: Yes it will fit palm routers it works fine with them

**Q: Can this be used to cut for the door jam for the hinge**
A: Unfortunately not. I just set the depth of my small router to cut depth in door jam and it worked fine

This does work fine, although a little fiddly to set up, The best thing is to make a little wooden block that can st against he jaws and show where exactly the edge of the router bit falls. Corner chisel is a nice touch, I wouldn't use it (I just mislay it), but handy I suppose. I don't like that all the screws need a spanner (cheep one provided), thumb screws would be better and I might replace them, alternatively I suppose I could fashion a holder for the spanner because it will just get lost, then I'll get annoyed! One great surprise was that it spaces about 15mm away from the surface being cut, This seems unecessary and limits any deeper cuts. but if you have a number of repetative hinge recesses or handles etc to fit it is a good thing.
