You've probably read that these balls do not last, and if you have an aggressive chewer that will be true. These balls are two (hard rubber?) halves melded together and wrapped/glued with tennis ball covering, and hold up well with general play. If your dog wants to tear them up though they most likely will. Keeping that in mind, my dachshund loves these! He plays with them all day and sometimes decides to skin one if he feels the occasion calls for it. We simply dispose of the ball when that happens. Given they are a little over a dollar each, they are very inexpensive toys. I buy a dozen every 2-3 months.

It is a shame to see all of the negative reviews, when I have given these to my dogs for many years. My dogs are JR terriers. Only one of them really plays with the balls. And she REALLY plays. She will bring the ball back 200 times in a row, catch it in mid air, etc. Our other dog likes to tease her with the ball, but doesn't care to chase it. I can understand these balls not holding up if you have a large dog. My dogs are around 18 pounds. They have really sharp teeth and love to chew/knaw on bones and such. But these balls truly hold up for a long time. We usually have a few laying around the house. They are hard....not easily chewed up. But after several months of play, I notice suddenly that Lily is doing more chewing than retrieving....and soon, her teeth go through. Once that happens, I toss the ball and if I have no new ones to bring out, I buy a couple more. These are the only balls we use, after trying many different kinds, all way too easily chewed up. I couldn't be happier to find them on Amazon (actually, I just opened my new box and was delighted that the balls actually were the same as we are used to using...sometimes we can't find them at Petco or Petsmart).

Our lab loves to chew on and retrieve these balls. The seal holding the two halves together breaks, then the outer fabric starts to tear. Becomes a choking hazard. Monitor the condition of the ball and replace when this happens. For the price, I wish they lasted a bit longer.

Levi, my English bulldog absolutely loves playing with anything Spherical, whether it's a basketball, a beach ball, or even very large tennis balls. He absolutely loves these things. Unfortunately he gets them lost everywhere so we have to buy more all the time but well worth it to keep him entertained and running around the house for that good old exercise. They do not last extremely long, maybe a week per ball, but that's plenty of time for him to have his fun. They do get very dingy but I mean that's to be expected, overall, Extremely great value!

I have a slightly larger Tuff Ball by Coastal and it has a hard indestructible core wrapped in the tennis ball material. I bought these smaller Tuff Balls because I thought ALL Tuff Balls had the same hard inner core, but these are easily punctured and basically worthless. They lasted just a few hours before completely torn in two pieces. They were purchased for a mini 10 lb wire haired dachshund. I'll stick with Coastal from now on.

I've purchased these balls twice for our 3 small breed dogs. They hold up well, and our one dog loves these, and will play with them constantly. The only reason I bought the second set is because they have gotten so dirty being outside that we wanted clean ones. Positives: - Durable - Our dog plays fetch we these for a couple hours a day, inside and out. None of them have cracked inside and only 2 have had any of the cover peel off. - Bounce well - These bounce well, and stay bouncy for quite a while. All of our remaining ones from the first order still bounce (about 7 of them) - Do NOT squeak - Our dog will continually squeak any squeaky toy, so this is a big positive. No real negatives for us. Of note from reading the Negative reviews: - Many of the low reviews are for the size, which is small, and listed in the description. Not sure why the 1 star review was necessary when they are as described. - These are TOO BIG for the iFetch small launcher. These are 1.8" and the iFetch small launcher takes 1.5" balls as listed. - These are not great for larger dogs. - Durability will go hand-in-hand with how much your dog chews on these, and actively tries to destroy them, as with any toy. Our dog fetches with them and chews occasionally. We also have had several foster dogs play with these and chew more, without tearing them up. - These do NOT have a squeaker in them. The description doesn't mention this at all, yet some reviews gave it a 1 star because it doesn't have a squeaker. Our dogs have been using these for over a year now, and I made sure to purchase another set when the covers started getting too dirty to use in the house. I will update my review if I find the new set is difference, but I would recommend these again.

Inconsistent quality. Some last a long time. Others break apart inside after a very short period, one the first day used.

My dachshund loves swimming for balls and these are the perfect size for her mouth. More durable against cracking than every other dog-specific tennis-type ball we have tried.

My golden retriever went through one of these balls faster than he did ones bought at the dollar store. Nope.

Ordered 4inch ball.... received 6 inch ball. My dog can't hold it in his mouth so he does not play with it. Money wasted. This is the 2nd time amazon has delivered a different product than what was ordered. Had bought this ball for my boxer last year. Nice and sturdy.... took him close to an year to tear it. So had ordered again.
