It doesn't etch like plastic, easy to clean, no complex surfaces and nooks for bacteria to grow. I *disassemble and clean the pump* and surfaces every few weeks as per the instructions. If the pump fails you (the 1star reviews seem to all not understand), it's likely from mineral buildup on the impeller, or the little motor housing got a small leak. * All the fountains on amazon use this same grade pump. * They are cheap to replace if you need one. But just keep them clean. Vinegar or citric acid cleans mineral buildup. just ofc make sure you rinse really really well.

Well made, pretty fountain for my pretty cat! Easy to assemble.

I like this water bowl/fountain. Much easier to disassemble and clean than previous teardrop shaped metal bowl. Very quiet.

I really like this fountain. It's easy to clean with no crevices or plastic parts (besides the pump). It also looks nice. My only problem is that my cat wants to drink out of the bottom where the non filtered water is. I cut a hole in a lid I had to cover the bottom go try to train her to drink from the top. All in all good fountain I just with it had a top to go over the 'non filtered' water area.
