Is the largest folding die large enough to fold a 1889 morgan silver dollar?

The largest die is not large enough. I was able to sand it down and could use it only after the Morgan dollar was domed with a block first.

Will these work for morgan silver dollar coins?

They do but you will want to get a good set of dies. I bought these for the push rods.

Are these what are used to create a hole in the coin?

They are not. Those are called Swedish wrap. You use the push rods( The solid pieces) to push the coin through the ( ones with the hole) to shape it. There are several steps to do before you get to these. You will need to get a hydraulic press to do most of these steps. I use a 6 ton from H.F. You will need a hole punch to put the hole in the coin first. Then you need to get a dapping block to dome the coin so you can put it through the Swedish wrap. I suggest if you are going to make coin rings I would first read up on everything you will need to do it and I also found Youtube to be very helpful too. I hope this helps you some. Greg R.

Nice set of dies for the Swedish wrap method for larger coin rings

I purchased this set of dies to straighten out a wobbly coin ring. I was impressed with the nice quality finish on the inside surface and found these to be a good value at the price point. I am happy with the results I got using these dies and would recommend them.

Not impressed with the set. Aluminum pushers gouge easily. Too soft.

I won’t be using these or wasting my time packing and mailing it back. The pushers are a little soft. They gouge easily from the coin reed unless you add a cotton makeup pad or similar protection.
