Katie Davisโs crayon-like illustrations and lighthearted tone will reassure any new studentโs cornucopia of fears and boost their confidence in this humorous story about facing your fears . . . after all, kindergarten rocks! Review: Perfect book for your rising kindergartner - I bought Kindergarten Rocks! as a present for my nephew who is starting kindergarten in the fall. He was feeling a little anxiety, especially since he is an only child and has not seen an older sibling start kindergarten. The book is lighthearted and fun and the perfect way to give an only or oldest child some older-sibing advice about the big day. My nephew reads the book every night and he has also taken it to preschool show-and-tell to show all the kids that Kindergarten Rocks! I also got Welcome to Kindergarten, which is a fine book, but would be my second choice. For any anxious parents, I'd recommend The Mommy's and Daddy's Guide to Kindergarten, which my sister now reads every night before bed too :-) Review: Engaging picture book - Great book for a kid entering kindergarten soon. The illustrations are colorful and the story is relatable. We have read it over and over in the months since we got it. I am hopeful it will help with the transition this fall.

The book you give the week before school starts
Someone gave this to our boys before their first day, and we've since bought it for a friend's daughter starting hers. That's most of the review right there. It's what you hand a nervous five-year-old in August. It takes the thing they're quietly anxious about and makes it sound like something worth being excited for, without talking down to them. Worth saying it works on first-time kindergartners specifically. If your kid is already a year or two in, they'll be past it.

Pretty good kindergarten book
My step-son started kindergarten, and was slightly nervous. He really enjoyed the book. I thought it was a little boring haha, but I am an adult, so what do I know? The illustrations are cute, made to look like it was done with a crayon. Anyway, since my step-son loved it so much, I'd recommend it!

Such a cute book for new Kindergartners!
My son wasn't really nervous about starting Kindergarten, but I ordered a new book for a his big brother, so I wanted to find something for him as well... This book is soo cute... Dexter is about to start Kindergarten and his big sister is helping him out because he's a little nervous. My son loved it- in fact, so did my second grader! I definitely think it's a great book, especially if your child is apprehensive... :)

Summer reading!
I bought this book because it was one of the listings for my son's kindergarten summer reading. I thought that since he was going to kindergarten this would also help him deal with the nevousism... and it did!!! we are to the second week of school and we read this every night before he goes to sleep... he says that it helps him like his new school!

Another great book for kids approaching a new school or school ...
Another great book for kids approaching a new school or school for the first time. The child assigns his fears and concerns to his stuffed toy making it easier to talk about them. Good opportunities for parent/child discussions about first time or new school situations. Encourages facing new challenges or unfamiliar circumstances with an attitude that looks for a positive outcome.

Good book to purchase before kindergarten
This a great book for a kindergartner who may be a little anxious about starting school for the first time. It's about a boy who expresses his fears through his stuffed dog, who joins him on his first day. Once he gets there, he realizes school is actually nothing to be scared of and meets lots of helpful people. The images are bright and large. All in all, a good book to read together before kindergarten starts.

great for any child starting school
This book was a great investment for my son. It really helped him go to kindergarten and settle in. I think this book would be great even for kids starting preschool for their first time as well. Kudos to Katie Davis for an amazing book!
