Can this be used on a metal mattress frame to keep the mattress from sinking between the slats?

No, it is definitely not designed for this purpose

Does your chair leave divots in this mat?

Yes, if you sit in one place for a while. It doesn’t seem to inhibit movement. I usually move my chair back at the end of the day & the divots are gone by morning. Mine sits on Berber carpet, which doesn’t have a thick pile.

Are these temperature resistant? I want to put under mini refrigerator on carpet and one on hardwood in case they leak water. Would it be safe?

Thanks for your information, yes, you can put our chair mat under mini refrigerator.

does this mat have some kind of (sticky) undercoating? I had one before and the glue-like material harmed the floor

No sticky stuff on back of office mat. All the little pointed things on back of mat help to keep mat on the carpet and I'm glad I bought it. It's a little bumpy still when office chair rolls around on it, but doesn't bother me at all.
