Exploring the mystery, wisdom, and power of the dark phase of the moon's cycle--a lunar-based model for moving through the dark times in our lives with understanding, consciousness, and faith in renewal. The moon's dark phase has traditionally been a time of fear and superstition, a time associated with death and isolation. The mythical embodiment of these fears is the Dark Goddess. Known around the world by many names--Lilith, Kali, Hecate, and Morgana--the archetypal Dark Goddess represents death, sexuality, and the unconscious--the little understood, often feared aspects of life. Demetra George combines psychological, mythical, and spiritual perspective on the shadowy, feminine symbolism of the dark moon to reclaim the darkness from oppressive, fear-based images. George offers rites for rebirth and transformation that teach us to tap into the power of our dark times, maximizing the potential for renewal inherent in our inevitable periods of loss, depression, and anger. Review: 10/10 - Absolutely phenomenal read. I can’t believe how good this book is. She dives into everything and how the world views darkness as bad when that isn’t the case AT ALL. We heal in darkness. We are birthed FROM darkness (the womb) and we will die (Darkness). Darkness came before light. And as a dark skinned women this book touched me to the core. She explains the duality of life, Dark People, Dark Times, Dark Ages and how we see them as BAD: when we/ it shouldn’t be viewed that way. Darkness is NEEDED. Without Darkness there would be no light. Thank you for opening my eyes. Review: Women Need This Book! - I thought I would enjoy this book and I have. I'm not quite halfway through it. In some places it gets a little deep, but the author has done a great job explaining so that I could understand. For any woman who feels hopeless about the patriarchy, this book is a must. I understand so much more now. It's easy to read and full of needed information for women today. I highly recommend this book.

The Dark Goddess,
It is one of those books that I enjoyed so much more than I thought I would. The book is geared towards females and one of the thrusts is about women discovering or regaining their power, especially in the cronw phase of their life. As a male I thought it was relavent. The dark moon corresponds to other phases of our life and the dark moon also relates to the dark goddess and her many guises. The dark moon is when things come to an end. It is the Brady and dissolution of old patterns before something new comes about. It is the winter of the year when everything is dormant and waiting to be revived. The dark goddess and moi. Have gotten a bad wrap. But the goddess herself was resting much like the leafless tree in winter. The goddess will be reborn. Among the many things discussed by this book are the dark times of our life and on the solar wheel there is whT I call a grand discussion on position in the stars that deals with our evolution. There is also a chapter on how the goddess was eclipsed by the make driven religions that came after it. Chapter three talks about the many guises of the dark goddess. I found the book most illuminating. When you read it I hope you will feel the same.

Wow
Probably the best book I have read in years. Thought provocing and inspiring at the same time. I re-read the last 10 pages for 2 weeks straight just because I didn't want the book to end. I lent this book to one of my friends and she wouldn't give it back till she had her own copy. A great reference book on Goddess cultures through history without the 'bitterness' that many authors can't help to avoid on the subject. Provides evidence and historical record and a great list of references to follow up on. I can't even write enough to do this book justice.

Very informative
This book is much more in-depth than anything I expected. Goes deep into history, but also analyzes astrological events, provides journal prompts for self-discovery, and more. Many different journeys in one book.

Amazing!!
This is such an amazing book! I listened to it on audible and I also wanted to purchase it to go back and re-read some sections and chapters when necessary as it talks about different dark moon goddesses

So far so good!
Though I am not done with this read I am loving it and probably will keep returning back for information. Its well written and extremely interesting for those of us who like it when our world becomes more mysterious as we come to the conclusion: The more we learn the more we like mysteries! This is not a book of fiction it is of believable facts! Take a chance you will enjoy it!

Bevlekte bestelling

Pagan must read
Wiccans and pagans will love this book but anyone can enjoy the descriptions of the Goddesses. Even if you are not pagan, I will still recommend this book to be worked with the Deities as Archetypes for healing. Healing takes places in many levels, and archetypes of Dark Goddesses are great for healing the human psychic. Whatever you work with the Deities or the archetypes, these will also be very empowering to the feminine aspects of ourselves and creations, and that includes all, women and man alike.
