My primary criterion, as an ethical vegan, was to buy one that was vegan. I ended up picking this one, somewhat at random, and I couldn't be more happy with it! I will continue to buy and use it on an ongoing basis. Very quickly after applying it, it makes my dry, fine, long, often-tangled hair so silky smooth that it is easy to comb through.
