I am absolutely in love with this Okumidori matcha! The quality is immediately noticeable—the color is a vibrant, bright green, and the powder is super fine. ​When whisked, it produces a rich, velvety froth with virtually no bitterness. This is a well balanced matcha I’m enjoying. It’s smooth, there’s no bitterness or astringency as a latte. Umami, slightly nutty. Great green color. I also enjoyed it as usucha! Another consistently good matcha from this brand.

This matcha tastes like Spring— EXCEPTIONAL. So smooth in texture, and delicious. I also love that the matcha didn’t come in a bag in the tin; it’s already in the tin and doesn’t make a mess. It’s a gorgeous green— that’s when you know it’s good quality! Highly recommend.

I absolutely love this brand & their ceremonial grade matcha! It smells absolutely amazing, the taste is very creamy & sweet. The spread on this lives up to their pictures (i had been searching for people to post pictures on the spread but could never find one on any matcha review). My IPhone camera automatically has some what of a saturated filter on it? so in real life this matcha definitely has a subtle brown tint to it… BUT i found that their zip lock okumidori matcha has a way more vibrant green than this tin can matcha. They both taste equally the same tho. I think i would probably purchase their zip lock next time just to play it safe, but it still taste the same lol. (I also make matcha lattes with this matcha & it is DELICIOUS). Now lets talk about price. When i was in japan i purchased TWO HUNDRED GRAMS of kyoto matcha for about ¥3,500 ; thats about $20 USD. Definitely a huge price difference, but obviously we have to think about international shipments that this company (FKRO) gets their supply from. I do still think that its way overpriced because i can order the same matcha i got in kyoto for $20, plus shipment fees of $30 (also thats express shipping, so i will get it in about 3 days)… Now, if i buy two 30grams of FKRO matcha… that comes out to $50, but i can get TWO HUNDRED GRAMS for $50. All matcha on amazon is a scam in my opinion but it doesnt change the fact that this one is absolutely delicious LOL. Thankyou for coming to my Ted Talk.

This is the best high quality matcha that’s easy to find in America. It’s sourced from Uji, Kyoto so you know it’s premium quality! I love how convenient it is to buy since it’s right on Amazon and delivers within 2 days. The color is a vibrant green so you know it’s high quality. It’s also very smooth and has a natural sweetness to it, definitely great for those who don’t like bitter matcha. It makes for a great latte and since matcha doesn’t give you a quick boost of caffeine like coffee does, you won’t get a midday crash from it either. Definitely recommend this matcha, especially if you enjoy making it home! You’ll save lots of money compared to buying it outside.

Perhaps it has become more difficult to produce higher grade tea because of that climate change. Not that it is bad, but it is not exactly matching my expectations of Uji matcha (from memory, a few years ago), and definitely not at this price.

Having tasted quite a few matcha brands, FKRO matcha still managed to surprise me with its creamy and full-bodied umami flavor. This one actually gets me excited to get up in the morning and have it. I’m so glad to have finally found my morning coffee replacement! I love this matcha with just water alone but would occasionally switch it up by mixing it with plant-based coconut or oat milk, which I find to pair well with matcha as compared to dairy milk. WHAT IS FKRO LIKE? The matcha powder comes in an aluminum pouch inside of the tin. My journey as soon as I opened the pouch and was greeted with the fresh aromatic sweet vegetal scent. I'm sure you'd agree that a good smell influences the taste of any food. I was gentle with transferring the matcha into my cup as I don’t want my matcha powder to fly around my kitchen. The matcha is a very pure vibrant green. HOW I PREPARED MY “TRADITIONAL” CEREMONIAL MATCHA: -I heated water to about 170 degrees -I added ½ tsp of matcha to my cup (I was lazy to sift) -I poured about 4 oz of water over the top of the matcha -I used a handheld milk frother to mix until frothy with no clumps (not quite the traditional bamboo whisk method but higher tech version) I’d adjust the amount of water used depending on my preference for the strength of the tea I’m feeling that day. Sometimes more, sometimes less. The matcha foams up well, mixed with water with ease and no clumps. TASTE: The thick foam on the surface is very satisfying to drink. The aroma and flavor are very complex – natural umami sweetness with slight astringency towards the end, but well-balanced by the creamy, thick and rich mouthfeel. The perfect balance of strength and smoothness. HOW DOES THIS TEA AFFECT ME? I always had a love-hate relationship with caffeine, especially with coffee. It made me tense, drained and out of touch with my body, but I couldn’t function without it. I don’t experience these side effects with this matcha tea. I do feel that I have better sustained energy levels and am able to focus for a longer period of time without ‘crashing’. Now I see why everyone talks about L-theanine. Overall, I am more productive (as seen with my lengthy review!!) and calm after my daily cup of FKRO matcha. SUMMARY: I thought matcha is just a fad powered by Instagram. Now, I understand why people go crazy over it. This matcha tea is in its own league. I have finally found my new daily morning boost. The color is a lush vibrant green, just like fresh vegetable produce. The aroma and flavor are very complex – natural sweetness with slight astringency towards the end, but well-balanced by the creamy, thick and rich mouthfeel. I must say that the focus and zenergy I get from this tea is great and I will be subscribing to this. You won’t be disappointed.

I’ve been really enjoying this matcha! The color is such a beautiful vibrant green, and it has a really smooth, rich taste without being overly bitter. I’ve been making it iced and absolutely love how it tastes. Definitely a 10/10 for me and I’ll be keeping this in my matcha rotation! 🍵💚
