Good and simple noise gate
I bought this at the recommendation of another guitar player who was using one of these as a backup to his MXR Smartgate he has been using for years. He told me he bought the Donner as a backup but was so surprised by the quality, he said I should try it as the price/performance was amazing. So, this was delivered the other day and I've had the chance to use it several times. I put it after my Joyo Vintage Overdrive (noisy) and Skreddy Lunar Module (fairly quiet unless turned up to high levels) but before my modulation/time effects. Honestly, I really don't turn on the Donner much for the Skreddy unless I crank up the fuzz to crazy levels or combine it with the Overdrive. However, when I use the Overdrive, whether alone or combined with the Skreddy, it gets really noisy. This is where I have been pleasantly surprised. The Donner is very easy to set with one dial and I was able to fine tune the Threshold (on the Soft filter setting) to where it cuts out most of the noise but still allows me to have significant sustain (I'm using a Fender Stagemaster FAT SSS). This also works well as I can kick in my compressor (which amplifies noise; MXR Dyna Comp) which furthers the sustain and can boost the levels even more without a lot of noise (i.e. it's a lot quieter). I haven't used the Hard setting, so I can't speak to that, but the Soft has been plenty. FYI, I did have a Boss NS2 that died on me. The NS2 did a good job of filtering but I found it to have a harder cut than the Donner. Also, the NS2, with numerous settings available, takes some more tweaking but does allow more options. The Donner is very quick and intuitive to set with a pretty soft cut (at least on the Soft setting). The Effect Loop on the NS2 was a nice option and allowed me to run my noisy pedals through the loop and bypass the modulation/time based effects. If your looking for more settings, options and fine tuning, the NS2 may work well for you. If you want something that is easy to set, does a good job, takes up very little space on your board, the Donner is a great option. I wish I could compare this to additional noise pedals, but I can't. For me, this pedal is worth every cent and a small investment.

Perfect Entry Level Noise Killer
Fantastic budget noise killer. I love my p90 pickups, but let's be honest - the hum can be loud. This pedal, when activated, completely kills the hum. I'm sure there are some that are better and have more features, but this seems to do the job quite well and inexpensively.

Exactly what I was hoping for at a price point that didn't break the bank!
This sturdy little pedal came in a nice magnetically closable box with a quick but useful owner's guide and a couple cute Donner stickers (I believe all Rock 'n Roll goodies should come with a cool sticker! ;-). I play mostly hard rock and metal (a lot of that drop tuned D, Db, C and B). I was tired of getting almost instant feedback (in my setting - a small 12x14 room with a 40watt all tube Marshall DSL40). I don't like using the amp in Triode mode (reducing and cutting the output power in half). Needless to say, there was a lot of unwanted noise (and feedback) coming out constantly and almost instantly. Most of my 'effects' pedal plug straight into the front of the amp (first - last: Tremonti Dying Machine Way, Joyo Compressor, Tube Screamer Mini, and a Fulltone OCD distortion). I've patched this Donner Noise Killer along with my EarthQuacker Dispatch Master Delay/Reverb and volume attenuator pedals through the back FX Loop of the amp to get the most noise reduction without affecting the tone or the effects of the other pedals (besides which, this is a True Bypass pedal). As mentioned above, I use a JHS Little Black Amp Box 'Passive amp Attenuator' to cut back the overall volume output of the Marshall amp so I can turn up the Volumes to get into the sweet-spot of the amp itself without blowing my head or the roof off! Combined with the Donner Noise Killer pedal, these work perfectly to manage volumes and unwanted noises! The pedal has both a potentiometer Dial (ranges between -60 and +10db) and a Loud / Soft switch. I find it's happy place is switched into Soft mode (which Donner recommends for most playing styles in the leaflet/manual) and the Dial set just a tad below -40db. I had to play with this a bit to find the sweet spot where I still get sweet sustain and I'm able to kill the unwanted noises. As Donner designed, it's easy to adjust and I was jamming within a couple of minutes. There's just a little "pop" when stomping the the ON/OFF button that is audible through the amp. It's not terrible however. Besides, it on all the time now anyway. Not a concern... The difference in my setup/setting is like night and day concerning the ambient noise that's "killed" as well as the amount of feedback I cut out with this little guy! With it turned off, there's a definite buzzing noise coming out of the the amp. With it on, it's completely gone! With this on and set as described above, the amount of unwanted feedback is pretty much cut out while playing as well. Now there's plenty of time to palm-mute and turn down the guitar volume between songs. There maybe a better Noise Killer on the market. You might have a buy a few to find it. You'll probably be paying 3x the price as well and it'll be, more than likely, more cumbersome to dial it in. What's left to say? I'm satisfied with this well built Donner Noise Killer. Buy it! I bet it works for you they way it working for me.

Supremely effective/well-built noisegate for a killer price tag.
I don’t run a ton of OD/distortion or anything that really creates a noisy environment. I just needed something to squash some minimal buzz and tighten thing up a bit. This pedal was exactly what I needed and for the price is very much worth it. Solid build design, compact, and tightens up my overall output just enough to shape an aggressive and clean sounding guitar tone. So if you’re a minimalist with effects and pedals and just need something to dampen the buzz and tighten your chugs up a little, this pedal is a must. 10/10

Must-Have for a Clean, Professional Sound!
I’ve tried multiple noise gate pedals over the years, and the Donner Noise Killer has seriously impressed me. If you struggle with unwanted hum or interference—especially with high-gain setups—this pedal is a lifesaver. Two Modes for Ultimate Flexibility The Hard mode aggressively cuts noise, perfect for high-gain, distorted tones where you need a firm gate. The Soft mode is smoother and more natural, ideal for preserving sustain while subtly eliminating background noise. Switching between the two is seamless, and both modes deliver a crisp, noise-free output. True Bypass & Signal Integrity Unlike cheaper alternatives that interfere with tone, this pedal maintains a clean and transparent signal path when disengaged. No tone suck, no muddiness—just your pure sound when the pedal is off. Compact & Built to Last The metal chassis feels rugged and sturdy, yet it’s compact enough to fit comfortably on any pedalboard. The simplicity of the controls is a huge plus—no unnecessary complexity, just efficient noise suppression. Perfect for All Guitarists & Genres Whether you play metal, rock, or even ambient cleans, this pedal adapts beautifully. I’ve tested it with single coils, humbuckers, and various amps—always delivering stellar results. If you’re looking for an affordable yet high-performing noise gate, this Donner pedal is a must-have.

Noise gate pedal is complete awesomeness....
Review is for Donner Noise Gate Pedal, Noise Killer Guitar Pedal Noise Suppressor.... Upon setting up my pedal board, I noticed the dreaded "hum" on high gain using a modeler. Figured I would give this a try to see if it gain reduce or maybe ELIMINATE that high gain "hum"..... I put this as the FIRST pedal in my chain. Well...I am here to tell you this little pedal works wonders. Completely eliminated the "hum" and now silence. That is until you hit a string, then you actually realize how loud your volume is. Connected a 2nd guitar, which has a grounding issue, where if I touch a covered pickup, I get noise/feedback/or reduction of same.... This pedal completely eliminated that noise. I couldn't be happier with this performance of such an inexpensive purchase. Has made it so that I DO NOT need to reduce the gain settings in my presets, like I had to do in order to get usable, high gain, low noise - working tones, prior to putting this pedal on my board. Works wonders for me, with only turning the control knob about to the 10 o'clock position. Completely removes all hum and noise. Wow. Impressed. I did not notice a difference in tone....just turned the knob until the noise was gonzo. While there are lots of noise gates on the market, which I do not have experience with....give this one a try....without breaking the bank....it works for me.

Good for little noise, bad for high noise.
This pedal is all about your style of play. Don't expect a cheap wonder for tube screaming, dialed to 11 distortion. If you are trying to kill a little hum in your line this is good dialed low. If you are trying to Max your high gain high distortion pedals this can't keep up. The more buzz, the more you turn the knob. Easy. But, the higher you dial the knob the more volume you lose. Around 1 or 2 o'clock you lose all sound. I played with this pedal for more than a year(?) just dealing with the fact I had to balance buzz killing with volume squelching. The straw that murdered the camel was when I purchased a Dark Blood distortion pedal and turned it to 11 on the gain and doom knobs. The donner couldn't keep up with the noise - even after the Dark Blood built in noise gate was maxed. Forget about tweaking the trebble knob. By the time it killed the screaming noise, it killed all signal. Then I bought a boss noise suppressor and hooked it up in the "cross" formation. This is when I learned what noise suppression is supposed to be like. Being able to dial in your threshold and decay is a tool I didn't realize I needed to get that crisp on/off aggressive chugging metal sound. Where the donner starts on the noise end and slowly eats your volume as you dial it up to kill more noise, more sophisticated noise killers are actually isolating noise and suppressing it. You'll hear it a bit when you are playing but by then, your sound is what you hear most. This is a great pedal if you only have a little noise to drown out and you can live with that volume loss, but if you want high gain high distortion, you'll thank yourself for going with something suited for that style of play.

Best value noise gate
For such an affordable price, this pedal gets it done. There are two modes, both of them are usable depending on your preference. Great value.

Great pedal works as advertised
As expected as a noise gate do its job to eliminate the noise from my distortion pedals for a minimal price point better than what I have before, this doesn't suck my Guitar tone. The one I had before sucks my guitar tone so I ended up selling it.
